Senior School

5/6 JDZ & 5/6 JD

We hope everybody enjoyed the extra long weekend at the beginning of this week. We have been very busy with Swimming and End of Year assessments. Can you believe there's only 5 and a half weeks to go?!

IN OUR LEARNING

Over the last couple of weeks, we have been completing a lot of end of year testing to assess progress/growth for End of Semester Reports.

In Reading, we have continued to focus on comprehension of text and using various strategies to develop our understanding of what we are reading. In Writing, we wrapped up our unit on poetry and will now finish the year revisiting our key genres of narrative and persuasive, whilst also exploring some fun writing tasks to end with. In Maths, we have completed our unit on fractions and decimals. Next week we move into Chance.

MINI-FETE!

Our Mini-Fete was a huge success! The sun was shining and our students did an incredible job setting up and running their stalls/activities throughout the day! The other classes and teachers really enjoyed their visits, with Teacher Target easily the most popular activity of the lot!

Overall, we managed to raise $960 towards end of year celebrations for the Year 6 students!

An absolutely huge effort! So proud of our students and the grateful for our wonderful school community!

SWIMMING PROGRAM

So far, our swimming program has been a lot of fun and very successful. Students have had the opportunity to develop a number of skills in the pool, from learning specific strokes, focusing on their breathing and practising and improving their diving skills!

We're looking forward to what our last week has in store!

GOLF CLINICS

Two weeks ago we were lucky enough to welcome Paul back to the school for one final golf clinic. Due to weather and other disruptions, we've been attempting to complete this final session for months!

It was great to have Paul back, who taught the students how to improve aspects of their golf skills, from putting to chipping.

POLICE  VISIT

Whilst the rest of the school will have to wait a little longer, we were fortunate to be visited by a member of Victoria Police who ran us through information related to cyber safety. She discussed safe ways to interact online, how to look out for red flags and how to keep our private information safe. It was a very worthwhile visit and we grateful for the opportunity to discuss cyber safety and ask lots of questions.
