Year 6 Transition Week

Term 4, Week 7

Year 6 Transition Week

In week 7, year 6 students had the opportunity to participate in a high school transition program. Students moved around the school to experience different teachers and different types of lessons. On top of Maths and English lessons, students cooked muffins, coded games and Ozobots, created beautiful ceramic artworks, sewed a Christmas stocking and learnt a small amount of sign language.

In week 7, year 6 participated in a ‘high school transition week’. During high school transition week, we had lots of different lessons, which we don't normally do, like food tech, sewing (TAS) and clay making. I liked it because I wasn’t just sitting in a seat all day and I got to go to lots of different classrooms and have classes with different teachers and groups of students. I enjoyed High School Transition Week, and I think that it should definitely be done again next year.

What was the best thing that happened last week? Food tech, clay making, science, PE and definitely fun day! I liked baking muffins (they tasted really good) and the clay making was fun since we were able to make anything we wanted and everyone had different ideas. For science, I make a track for an Ozobot which was fun. I was able to confuse the bot which was amusing. PE was intense because the activities involved a lot running around. One of them was like OzTag and involved getting a tag ripped and the other one involved a lot more strategy to win. Ending the week with Fun day was the greatest because a lot of people were coming to our store. Overall, the experience was great.
