JDRF One Walk

A committed group of current and former Marist mums and sisters once again strapped on their hiking boots to join JDRF’s One Walk and raise funds for a world without type 1 diabetes (T1D) this month.

 

This year’s 36-strong Blue Army (or should that be Blue and Yellow Army!) walked more than 33km over two days through stunning Lamington National Park, enjoying plenty of laughs along the way and raising almost $6,000 for T1D research.

 

The cause is close to the heart of organiser extraordinaire and former Marist mum Karen O’Connor, whose son Tom (Class of 2020) was diagnosed with T1D when he was 11. A number of this year’s walkers also have family members with T1D, including current Year 12 Marist boarder George Wood.

 

Now in its third year, this special event celebrates the strong friendships formed through boys boarding at Marist while supporting a great cause.
