Senior Unit - 5/6

On the 27th of October, the girls’ basketball team travelled to Swan Hill to compete in the Loddon Mallee Basketball competition. Leaving school at 7:00am, the girls set off on an almost 3 hour long road trip. After arriving at the stadium and stretching their legs, they played Saint Francis of the Fields which was a Bendigo school. Although the scores were 26-12, the girls put in a fantastic effort. The girls then went on to play Saint Marys Echuca and St Marys Swan Hill, which both resulted in a loss but were very close games. After the last game, the girls went to Maccas, which by all accounts was the highlight of their adventure. The girls would like to thank Lisa and Kerry for volunteering their time to travel to Swan Hill, without their help the day would not have been possible.

Red socks run

On Friday the 27th of October we all wore red to raise awareness for dyslexia and kidney disease. We ran laps of the oval and the class that did the most laps from the junior, middle and senior unit got icy-poles for the class. Each person did about 10 laps and each class did about 200 laps in total. Students were asked to wear at least one item of red clothing to create a “sea of red” to convey the message to the Woodend community.

Year fives school captain speeches

The Year Fives have done their school captain speeches and are eagerly awaiting the results. We wish all of the students who tried out good luck. The school is looking forward to meeting its new school captains to inspire the younger students to follow in their footsteps. There were about 30 contestants. “It can be hard but when you’re up there in front of the year 4,5,6s the nerves sort of melt away” said Immy from SU3.

5/6 Art

In art the year sixes are making beach huts with colourful popsicle sticks. The different combinations of colours will be fantastic to see. While the year 5s are making colourful masks in cool colours that will stand out. We can't wait to see the finished products. Thanks to Ms Mann for the wonderful experiences.
