Gardening

This week in gardening students have begun preparing some raised beds for summer crops.

We received a truck load of straw and compost, and students used their gross motor skills and cooperation to move and stack the items in the sheds.

We harvested the broad beans and processed them into the compost to add nitrogen. Similarly we pulled out 4 wheelbarrows worth of borage which will act as an activator for the compost!

Students delighted in nibbling on borage flowers and broad beans, and continued to uncover an abundance of potatoes - they are a gift which keeps giving.

We put some final touches on our scarecrow, who will be entered into Darebin's scarecrow competition as part of the Rossmoyne Rummage.

We have been doing some birdwatching and identification in celebration of Birdlife Australia's Great Aussie Bird count.

Please come along to the working bee this Sunday 9am - 1pm! Come for half an hour or stay for the day - every little bit helps 😊
