Literacy - Year 1/2

This term the Year 1/2 students have been learning about design processes and writing procedural texts. Each student made a pet rock and then designed a shelter for it. They selected their own materials and used their creativity and engineering skills to create a Pet Rock House. 

 

Charlotte’s Pet Rock House

Materials:

  • Cardboard
  • Grass
  • Sticky tape
  • Blu Tac

Method:

1.Cut the brown cardboard into small pieces.

2. Stick the cardboard pieces all together with Sticky tape.

3. Stick 2 small pieces of cardboard together to make a bed.

4. Stick the grass on the floor and then it will make a carpet.

5. Have fun playing with your pet rock!

 

My Pet Rock House - Trinity

    Materials:

  • Cardboard
  • Blu Tac 
  • Glue
  • Leaves 
  • Paddle pop sticks
  • Sticky Tape

    Method:

  1. Cut the cardboard into 5 squares.
  2. Make a box with 4 of the squares.
  3. Place  the 5th square in the box.
  4. Make a rectangle with the paddle pop sticks.
  5. Glue the leaves on the rectangle. 
  6. Use the paddle pop sticks to make a trapezium.
  7. Then make another one underneath.
