Art Room News

I am excited to announce that we will be holding our Clayton North Primary School Art Show again this year. This exhibition will be a fantastic celebration of the student’s artwork created throughout the year and we hope you will come along and see their amazing work and experience our ‘Glow in the Dark’ Gallery. The exhibition will run for a week from November 27th to December 1st. Please see the flyer below for more information.

Last week, Education Support Staff, Kathie Witter, and I attended a Rotary Club (Oakleigh Clayton Huntingdale) event to celebrate the success of the ‘Spotlighting Bullying’ Art Exhibition. Our school along with others in the Monash network were able to share our experiences of the exhibition and hear from speakers from the Suicide Prevention Network about the importance of mental health and spreading the anti-bullying message in our schools. Clayton North Primary was presented with a $200 voucher for our student participation in the exhibition. I would like to congratulate all the students who participated in this exhibition and thank Rotary for their continuous support of our students. This voucher will go towards equipment and materials for our Visual Arts Program for all our students to enjoy.

We have been busy in the Art Room this term. Students in the Junior school finished their construction projects. Foundations students completed their stick puppets and Year 1/2 students produced some amazing insect sculptures made with papier-mâché.

Students in Years 3-6 have been working on their clay modeling skills and have hand-built pinch pots with clay. They have learned to use tools to add texture and used their imagination to turn their pinch pots into something creative. Their clay pieces are in the process of drying and firing in the kiln and they are looking forward to painting in the coming weeks.

World Cup cricket fever grips Clayton North Primary School. We have been practicing our batting, bowling, and fielding for the last three weeks. Students in Years 3/4 and 5/6 are refining their skills with the training provided by coaches from Cricket Australia. Next week, the senior school will have a match in the Physical Education class. Stay tuned for more photos.

Music Room News

At Music classes the students have breezed through the process of “Assessments” by performing their favourite song on their preferred instrument in small groups, in front of their peers. Videos of their performances are now available for viewing on Seesaw.  We recommend that parents download the videos on their personal devices as they may become unavailable when the school closes for the summer vacation.

On November 14th, the Preps will be performing at the assembly starting from 9am. All parents and families are welcome to attend and support our littlest artists.

We are thrilled to announce that we have started planning for the much-awaited event of the year, "The School Concert 2023". This exciting event will be held on December 6th, Wednesday, starting from 1:45 pm at the Huddle. We encourage families and friends to join us on this occasion. Please stay tuned for more information to follow.
