Exploring Animals and Habitats

This term, the Foundation students have been learning about different animals and exploring the various types of habitats around the world. These habitats include the desert, grasslands, rainforests, ocean, tundra and wetlands. We have also incorporated reading and writing about habitats into our Literacy sessions. During these sessions, we have learned about the features of nonfiction books and have practiced letter formation, sentence structure, and correct spelling of high-frequency words when writing about habitats.

The students have been proud of their writing and they have really enjoyed sharing their work with their peers in the Rosellas and Kookaburras classes. As a part of our end-of-year inquiry project, we are going to use the knowledge we have learned about habitats to craft a three-dimensional habitat that features various animals.
