We have had an incredibly exciting and busy term of learning in the classroom and through alternative programs too!
Throughout this term, students have been learning about Biodiversity. Students have been researching a biome and animal that lives within that biome to create an infographic. This project has allowed the learning to cross over between Reading, Writing and Integrated Studies. Students will be presenting their infographics to their class in the final two weeks of term!
In Numeracy, students have been learning about using a range of strategies throughout the term. Recently, students have been calculating elapsed time and have had to use their multiplication skills when working out how many minutes and seconds are in a range of days.
Students have also completed a range of assessments to prepare teachers when writing reports. All students gave their best effort with all assessments that were completed and should be so proud of their achievements.
At the beginning of Term 2, the 5/6 students attended camp in Anglesea. All students who attended camp developed their team building skills, where they needed to be strategic and communicate their ideas to be successful. They also participated in beach games, sandcastle building and an obvious favourite, boogie boarding! A highlight for many students was the night walk through the bush and creating log huts.
Students have recently completed the swimming lesson program at Shayne Reese. As part of the curriculum, students in Year 5 and 6 are required to participate in the Victorian Water Safety Certificate.
Throughout Term 2, all Year 5 / 6 students were introduced to their elective program. Each elective will allow students to participate in a subject of their choosing, which will have some very exciting opportunities for all. The electives that students are participating in are:
We are very excited to see all of the things our students are doing during this time!
