Performing Arts

Performing Arts.
Performing Arts has been incredibly busy this term with all grades working hard to build their understandings of the elements of music. We have been using a range of different instruments to explore, pitch, dynamics, melody and beat. I would like to thank all students for coming to Performing Arts with positive attitudes and a willingness to give everything a go. I would also like to thank our wonderful ES staff who attend the classes and work tirelessly to make sure all students are able to access the lessons.
Prep
Our littlest musicians have been working hard to express ideas using their voices, body percussion and instruments. We have been experimenting with adding sounds to stories as we read them.
Grade 1/2
Our 1/2 students have been working hard developing their music making skills. They have worked on playing instruments in different ways to change the feeling of what they are playing. They played loudly and softly as well as fast and slow.
Grade 3/4
Grade 3/4 students have taken what they have learnt and begun composing their own pieces of music. They begin with a simple rhythm and then add melodic notes in order to write their own music. I am thrilled at some of the creations I have heard this semester.
Grade 5/6
Our oldest students have continued to ply their craft in exciting and inventive ways. They too have been working on composing their own short pieces of music, but with less rigid guidelines so they are able to be even more creative.
Finally, our school Rock band has been working every week on learning the song Dandelions. It is sounding great, and we are very much looking forward to a debut performance in the near future.
