Principal Team's Message

Nurture.  Innovate.  Celebrate.

Dear Students, Parents, Carers and Families,

Buildings and Grounds Update

I am excited to share some recent and upcoming improvements around the school as part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for all students, staff, and families.

🔒 CCTV Installation: As part of enhancing safety and security on school grounds, we have completed the installation of CCTV cameras in key locations. These will help us monitor the premises more effectively and deter any inappropriate behaviour. Clear signage advising of CCTV surveillance will be installed at the beginning of next term in line with privacy requirements.

📚 New Signage for Key Areas: You may have noticed some fresh new signs around the school! Updated signage has been installed on both the school library and the old gymnasium, creating a more polished look across the campus.

🏀Basketball Court Line Marking: We are looking forward to refreshing the line markings on our basketball courts, thanks to our wonderful community fund raising through the 2025 Colour Run event. To ensure the best quality and longevity of the new lines, this work will take place after our 2025 School Fete. As the Fete involves a number of stalls and heavy foot traffic on the courts, postponing the line marking will prevent any potential damage and ensure a clean, professional finish.

Thank you for your ongoing support as we continue to improve our school environment for everyone at Maramba! As always, if you have any suggestions or feedback, please feel free to make an appointment to see me or email the school at maramba.ps@education.vic.gov.au

Milo's Birthday Surprise

Today, our Maramba Foundation students celebrated Milo’s Birthday Surprise—a delightful story that brings letters and sounds to life through the adventures of Milo the monkey and his friends as they prepare for his birthday party. The book introduces phonics in a systematic and engaging way, following the sequence of the Little Learners Love Literacy program. Each of Milo’s friends represents a different letter and sound, with hidden clues in the illustrations that build anticipation for the birthday surprises.

Students came dressed as their favourite characters and enjoyed a fun-filled day of certificates, games, and a whole-school parade! A big thank you to our Foundation staff for creating such a joyful and enriching experience for our young learners.

Puffing Billy Excursion – All Aboard!

On Monday, June 23rd, the Year 1 and Year 2 students went on an exciting excursion to ride the iconic Puffing Billy Railway.

The adventure began at Belgrave Station, where the students boarded the historic steam train for a scenic journey to Lakeside Station. As the train chugged through the lush Dandenong Ranges, students were thrilled to spot kookaburras, colourful parrots, tall gum trees, vibrant flowers, and various insects — all part of the beautiful natural environment.

Upon arriving at Lakeside, the students enjoyed a picnic lunch followed by playtime on the playground. They then took part in a hands-on, educator-led workshop at the Lakeside Visitor Centre.

During the workshop, students:

  • Learned about the rich history of the Puffing Billy Railway
  • Dressed up as train conductors
  • Designed and created their own train tracks
  • Explored historical artefacts from the past

It was a fun and educational day filled with discovery, creativity, and adventure. The students had a fantastic time and made lasting memories on this special excursion!

I am also especially proud of how our students behaved while out in the community. We received lots of positive feedback from staff, parents, and volunteers about how respectful and polite our students were throughout the day. They represented our school beautifully, well done!
