Prep News

Dear Families,
We are so proud of the amazing learning happening in Prep! Here’s a snapshot of what we’ve been up to in the classroom:
Literacy
This week, we learnt a new digraph: /ck/ for black duck! We’ve been practising whiteboard spelling, writing simple sentences through dictation, and developing our reading fluency. The students have loved engaging in the writing process and letting their imaginations run wild. Some of our stories included a rat stuck in a cup eating chips, a friendly creature with horns, and all sorts of underwater sea adventures!
Mathematics
In Maths, we’ve been revisiting some of the key concepts we’ve learnt so far this year while exploring the idea of time and duration. We’ve had lots of fun estimating and counting how many times we can blink in 10 seconds, or clap in 1 minute! It’s been a fantastic way to build number sense and understand how long different amounts of time feel.
Inquiry
We’ve been reading and discussing stories all about community and the many ways we can help and make a positive impact. We are especially looking forward to hearing from Timothy (Claire’s dad) who will be sharing how his job helps support our community—thank you in advance!
Reminders
- Assembly: Friday from 3:00 – 3:30pm in the gym.
- Final Week of Term: Next week—can you believe it?
Looking Ahead to Term 3
We have some exciting events coming up (dates to be confirmed):

Thank you for your continued support. We’re so proud of all the learning and growing our Preps have done so far and can’t wait for more fun in Term 3!
Warm regards,
The Prep Team
