Principal's Report

Dear BEPS Community,

Welcome back to Term 3!

It’s been a great start to the second half of the year, with students quickly settling into learning and making the most of the opportunities this busy term brings.

Over the holidays, we were excited to see the Foundation playground upgraded, with brand-new rubber softball installed to improve safety and accessibility for our youngest learners. The Senior Playground is next on our improvement list, with demolition and a full modernisation in the planning phase. We are currently sourcing quotes and will keep families updated on the timeline for this project.

On Monday, our Foundation students and staff celebrated 100 Days of School in style with many dressing up as if they were 100 years old! It was a joyful occasion marking how far our youngest learners have come since their very first day.

This week, we host our Parent Teacher Conversations, focused on your child’s next steps in learning and wellbeing. These conversations are an important way to build shared goals between home and school, and we thank families for prioritising this time.

Later this term, our Year 4 and 5 students will attend camp, designed to build leadership, resilience and teamwork.

Camps are a memorable part of school life and provide valuable learning outside the classroom.

Students have been working hard preparing for our upcoming Athletics Carnival, with all students participating in a range of track and field events. Our in-house competition ensures every student has a chance to get involved, develop skills, and experience success.

Congratulations to the many students who participated in the International Mathematics Competition with several students recognised as Champions and Elitists. What a phenomenal effort!

In the IMC, students scoring above the 95th percentile are recognised as Champions, while those scoring between the 80th and 95th percentiles are acknowledged as High Performers and awarded the title of Elitist.

NAPLAN Success

NAPLAN results have been sent home, and we are thrilled to share that BEPS achieved above “like schools” and “network schools” in 9 out of 10 areas. This is a credit to our students, staff, and supportive families –well done, everyone!

Road Safety Reminder  Blackburn Road

We have received community concerns about unsafe behaviours during school pick-up times, particularly around Blackburn Road.Student safety is our highest priority. We remind families:

  • Do not use the middle lane of Blackburn Road as a waiting zone
  • Always model safe behaviour when crossing the road
  • Follow directions from school staff and council signage

Unsafe practices cause traffic congestion and pose a serious risk to our students. Let’s work together to keep every child safe.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership in making Term 3 a productive, safe, and exciting term for all students.

Yours in Partnership,

Darren
