Year 2 Literacy

The Year 2’s have been working hard this term in Literacy! Every morning we start our day with Sound Waves Literacy, where we investigate a new sound each week and learn different spelling patterns. Did you know /we/ is only seen at the start of words? We do!

In Reading, we have been looking at nonfiction texts. Students have been exploring features of nonfiction texts, including glossaries, diagrams and subheadings. They’ve explored a variety of texts and are building their knowledge of different text features. 

In Writing, students are exploring informative texts, and have begun writing their own information report! They’re using subheadings to organise their information, like ‘What do they look like?,’ and ‘Where do they live?’. Next, students will use what they’ve learned in eading to create their own diagram for their information report!
