From the Principal's Desk

As we reach the conclusion of Term 2, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the wonderful achievements and experiences our students have enjoyed over the past few months. It has been a busy and productive term, filled with learning, growth, and the vibrant spirit of our school community.

Academic Achievements: Our students have shown remarkable dedication to their studies. From engaging classroom discussions to innovative projects, it has been inspiring to see their enthusiasm for learning. I encourage you to celebrate their efforts at home, whether it’s through discussing their schoolwork or encouraging their reading habits. Reports have been sent home this week along with an opportunity to make appointments for three-way conferences in Week 3 of next term.

Extracurricular Activities: This term, we have also seen a range of extracurricular activities flourish. Our sports teams have demonstrated great sportsmanship and teamwork, achieving commendable results in various competitions. Our debating teams are through to the next round after a number of wins against local schools.

Excursions: I have received several concerns this term regarding the costs being charged for excursions and camps. As a school, we do not make any profit off camps or excursions. By far, the largest cost is for transport. This is why we now have two minibuses to offset some of these costs. We are also looking at ways to be strategic, including borrowing buses from surrounding schools. Being able to experience these activities is an important part of student learning and helps to develop the concepts taught in class.

Canteen: After an extensive delay, I am pleased to announce that Mel’s Lunchbox will open in our canteen as of day one next term. Mel has several canteens in our local area. The menu is attached. Online booking will be published shortly.

OOSH: The end of the term marks the end of Willowtree running the OOSH

at Woodland Road PS. On behalf of our whole community, I would like to thank them for their support and wish them all the best for the future.

The new provider is called, TheirCare.

New Preschool:

Community Involvement: I would like to extend my gratitude to our parents and volunteers who have contributed to our school events and programs. Your support makes a significant difference in enriching our students' experiences. Together, we are building a strong sense of community that benefits everyone.

Looking Ahead As we approach the holiday break, I encourage all families to take this time to relax and recharge. The break is an excellent opportunity for students to explore new interests, spend time with family, and enjoy some well-deserved downtime. Term 3 promises to be just as exciting, with new learning opportunities, events, and initiatives on the horizon. We look forward to welcoming our students back, ready for another term of growth and achievement. Students return on the 22nd of July.

Wishing you all a safe and enjoyable holiday break!
