Welcome to the end of Week 8. This week was a short but action packed week. Hopefully the long weekend provided some well earned rest and relaxation for everyone.
Our Preps engaged in an incursion titled 'Craft Power' on Wednesday and Thursday. Lots of amazing creations were made and our Preps were so proud of their efforts.
Friday marked our fundraiser 'Beanies for Brain cancer.' There were multiple beanies seen as the community entered the school gates. Since 2015, support for the cause has helped raise over $25 million, driving vital brain cancer research. The charity states 'We need so much more to find a cure — but together, we can make a difference.' It's fabulous that as a collective at St Louis we are doing a small part to help this incredible medical research.
Congratulations to our Year 6's who competed in the Lightning Premiership on Friday. All teams played with enthusiasm and represented our school well in their interactions with other schools. A special mention to the AFL group who now move onto the next level. The weather was also perfect for them. Well done to every team on their effort.
This weekend is our Year 5 level Mass on the feast of the Holy Trinity. We hope to see as many Year 5's as possible at Mass on Saturday night or Sunday morning. There will be an opportunity to have a cuppa and mix with our families and other parishioners at the conclusion of Mass.
On Saturday evening a social Trivia Night will take place in our Hall. A huge thank you to members of our PFA who have spent a lot of time organising the event. A particular thank you goes to Jade Coull. We have 200 community members attending the night - a mammoth effort.
Next week our Year 6's head off for camp to Golden Valley in Flinders in two groups. 6ET and 6CG are the first two classes attending and 6KB and 6GL will commence their journey on Wednesday. Here they will be involved in a range of adventure activities and team challenges. We hope that the weather remains kind to them and we look forward to sharing in some of their exciting stories on return.
On Wednesday some of our students will compete in the south metro cross country championships. Congratulations to Zane Nayna. Lachlan Moran, Maddy McGloin, Rhys Fothergill and Alyssa Burgoyne for making it this far. We are all behind them and hope that they are satisfied with their own performance on the day.
Carmel continues her travels in Japan and by all accounts is having a great time. She has certainly reached out to make sure everything continues to run smoothly at St Louis and she will return on Monday 23 June.
Hope you all have an amazing week.
