At St Joseph’s, we are incredibly proud of the writing being produced by our Year One students.
Thanks to the direct and explicit instruction from our dedicated teachers—Meg Correy, Wendy Martin, and Zoe D’Intini, students have developed a strong foundation in the following areas:
To support students in writing longer texts, especially narratives, we have introduced a new scaffolded activity. This involves using a sequence of pictures along with word or symbol prompts, enabling students to apply the writing, grammar, and syntax skills they have learned to construct extended texts independently.
