Winter Solstice

Last Thursday night our school community met in the park beside SKiPPS and in the Parks Victoria Pavilion to celebrate the Winter Solstice.
Crisp, clear skies and a proper winter chill made it the perfect setting to mark the shortest day of the year.
More than 350 meals were served, and the park was alive with smiling faces, children making lanterns and the happy hum of conversation. Despite the temperature, there was a real warmth in the air.
Hot food and mulled drinks kept everyone toasty, while live music from one very talented parent volunteer gave the evening its upbeat, festive feel. As darkness settled, an amazing fire-dancer took centre stage and wowed us all with spinning flames and daring tricks. It was a show-stopping finale that had the whole crowd cheering.
A heartfelt thank-you goes to SKiPPA for organising every detail and to all the parents who pitched in on the night. Events like this only happen because of the passion and generosity of our community.
Enjoy these photos that capture the colour, energy and magic of a very special evening.
Here’s to brighter mornings ahead.
