Student Reports & Parent Teacher Interviews - Term 3, Week 1
As we approach the midpoint of the school year, Semester 1 reports will be released to families via Compass next week. These reports are an important part of our school’s approach to keeping parents informed about their child’s learning and progress.
Teachers have been working carefully on these over recent weeks. Each report includes a written summary of your child’s learning across the semester, with comments on their work habits, behaviours and application. You’ll also see a judgment of their progress against the Victorian Curriculum progression points, helping you understand how your child is performing in relation to age-expected benchmarks.
When read alongside the extensive student work and feedback already shared on Seesaw throughout Terms 1 and 2, these reports provide a comprehensive picture of your child’s learning journey so far this year.
Early in Term 3, we will hold Parent-Teacher Interviews to give families an opportunity to meet with their child’s teacher, reflect on the Semester 1 report, and talk through learning goals for the remainder of the year.
Bookings for these interviews will open Monday morning (30th June) and full details will be sent via Compass, including how to make a booking.
We strongly encourage all parents and carers to make an appointment — these conversations are such a valuable way to support learning at home and maintain strong partnerships between school and families.
School Swimming Program
This week has seen our students in years Foundation - 3 taking part in our annual swimming program at MSAC. Swimming is an important component of the SKiPPS Physical Education Program and a key learning focus of the Victorian Curriculum.
Next week (30th June - 4th July ) it is the turn of our Year 4-6 students who will attend daily lessons.
As in previous years, students will travel to MSAC (Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre) for their swimming program. All sessions will be conducted by trained instructors.
The lessons will be 45 minutes long. Students will come to school as normal on these days and travel to and from by tram.
If any parents have not returned their completed medical/swimming competency form or provided consent on Compass, we ask you to do this right now!
Students will need;
- labelled bathers,
- towel,
- goggles
- an orange swim cap (available from the office for $3),

Solstice Lanterns - button batteries
As discussed later in the newsletter, last week's Solstice evening was a huge success enjoyed by a huge number of families.
During the event, students had the opportunity to create their own beautiful lanterns which illuminated the darkness on their 'lantern walk'.
We just wanted to inform families that the lights used in the lanterns are powered by small 'button batteries'. Whilst these are secured within the small light provided, we encourage families to just be aware of this around smaller children or pets as there is a risk of injury if ingested.
We encourage families to keep their lanterns safely away from little hands (and paws) and carefully dispose of the lights and batteries when they have run out of power.
Support Our School Through Tax-Deductible Donations
As we approach the end of the financial year, we invite families to consider making a tax-deductible donation to our Library Fund or Building Fund. These contributions help us enhance school resources, improve facilities, and create engaging learning environments for all students.
Both funds are endorsed as Deductible Gift Recipients (DGRs), which means any donation of $2 or more is tax-deductible. To qualify, donations must be made voluntarily and without receiving any material benefit in return.
To make a donation, please get in touch with our Business Manager, Nova Whitehead, via email at nova.whitehead@education.vic.gov.au. She will provide the necessary banking details and issue a receipt to provide to your accountant.
Your generosity makes a real difference—thank you for supporting our school community.
Return your Library Books
Just a note to ask all families to please return all school library books as soon as possible to allow us to complete our end of term stocktake.
