From the Principal's Desk

Welcome to our latest College Newsletter, a reflection on the vibrant life of Brigidine College Randwick. As we move through Term 2, it's inspiring to witness the holistic growth of our students across all facets of college life – faith, pastoral, and learning. This newsletter highlights some of the remarkable activities and initiatives that continue to shape our Brigidine girls into compassionate, capable, and confident young women.

Our commitment to fostering a deep and meaningful faith within our students continues to flourish. A heartfelt thank you to our talented choir members, who enriched the Jubilate Deo Mass with their angelic voices. Their dedication truly elevated the liturgical experience for all present. The Brigidine Choir was certainly the talk of the Mass presided over by Archbishop Fisher. The singing was outstanding and we look forward to an encore performance at Walk with Christ procession this Sunday 22nd June, demonstrating their public witness to faith and the spirit of community. On Sunday evening we participated in the East Connect Youth group activities, culminating in a wonderful Mass at OLSH Kensington delivered by Fr Michael. This gave the girls an opportunity to meet with other youth in Catholic schools around the Eastern Suburbs.

We are eagerly anticipating the upcoming Year 11 Retreat. These retreats are invaluable opportunities for our students to step away from the daily demands of school life, reflect on their spiritual journeys, and deepen their relationships with God and one another in a supportive and prayerful environment.

The wellbeing of our students remains paramount, and our pastoral care programs are designed to equip them with essential life skills and support their mental and emotional health in order to achieve the best learning opportunities.

We have been privileged to host guest speakers from the Black Dog Institute, who delivered insightful and practical study skills sessions regarding mental health and tailored content from Elevate Education in regards to positive study scenarios. These sessions provided our students with valuable strategies for managing academic pressure, fostering resilience, and promoting positive mental health. We encourage all students to utilise the resources and techniques shared during these sessions.

Our students continue to demonstrate dedication and resilience in their academic pursuits. Our Year 12 students have recently received comprehensive feedback from their internal examinations. We commend them for their diligent work and their proactive approach in acting upon this feedback as they prepare for the upcoming trial examinations. This crucial period is an opportunity for consolidation and refinement, and we encourage all Year 12 students to continue to seek support from their teachers as they prepare.

Our dedicated teaching staff are currently in the process of finalising assessments and meticulously writing reports. This is a time-intensive period, ensuring that each student's progress and achievements are accurately reflected. We appreciate the hard work and commitment of our teachers in providing valuable feedback to our students and families.

Our commitment to continuous improvement extends to our staff, ensuring they are at the forefront of educational best practice. Our recent staff development days were highly productive, with a significant focus on programming for the ongoing NSW Curriculum Reform. Teachers engaged in collaborative workshops, sharing expertise and developing innovative approaches to implement the new syllabuses. This dedicated time ensures that Brigidine College continues to offer a contemporary and enriching learning experience for all students. Staff meetings have also seen staff engage with the Accidental counsellor to engage with students in a continued positive manner.

Our building project is getting closer to starting, which is positive news, but still no definite start date yet.

As always, we are immensely proud of our Brigidine College Randwick community. Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership in the education and formation of our students.

Be Brave, Be Brilliant but be Brigidine.
