Principal's Report

Kaylene Kubeil

This term is particularly long, with 2 weeks to go before reaching the 11-week mark and the holiday break. I want to acknowledge all those who attended the Year 5 and 6 City Camp earlier this week. Whilst Camps are an excellent learning opportunity, they are extremely hard work, and many of the teachers and parent volunteers most likely did not have their 'regular' hours of sleep. In the Assistant Principal's report, there will be a 'snapshot' of the City Camp and all associated adventures.  I would like to extend my special thanks and gratitude to Mr Dupuy, who, as the Camp organiser, worked tirelessly to bring this camp into reality. Equally, I would like to sincerely thank our parent volunteers who made the camp such a successful event; we could not have done it without you.

Past Student - Sporting Excellence

Congratulations to Tara Watson (past student), who will join the game day team on Saturday with the Melbourne Vixens.  A Victorian pathway product (from Whittlesea), Watson has impressed in her first season as a Vixens squad member, including strong performances for Vixens Academy in the SN Reserves competition. Well done, Tara!

2026 Enrolment Timelines

Foundation 2026: This is a friendly reminder that if you have a child starting school in 2026, Foundation Enrolment Applications should be submitted by Friday, 25th July (the end of Week 1, Term 3), in line with the Statewide Transition timeline. Following this date, the school will notify families of their child’s placement from Monday, 28th July. If you have a sibling commencing in Foundation in 2026, we kindly ask that you collect an enrolment form from the office as soon as possible to begin the process. Finalising our Foundation enrolments early helps us plan effectively and ensures we can organise staffing, class compositions and resources in a timely manner. If you have any questions about Foundation 2026 or our Pre-Foundation Program (see attached flyer), please don’t hesitate to contact the office.

Year 7 2026:  On Tuesday, 1st July, we will inform parents/carers of their child’s Year 7 placement offer for the 2026 school year. The Year 7 Placement Acceptance Slip must be included and, where relevant, the Appeal Form. This will be sent home as a letter with Year 6 students.

Showcasing our beautiful WPS SPACE

I have conducted several tours at the school over the past few weeks, and for any family who has not been on our school site, they always comment, 'What an amazing space.'

I genuinely believe that the many people who drive past each day have no idea of how lucky we are!

Zero Tolerance on Bullying in Schools

Bullying, whether in person or online, is not tolerated at Whittlesea Primary School.   Bullying in any form can have immediate, medium and long-term effects on those involved, including bystanders.   The Minimum Standards for school registration require schools to have policies and procedures for managing student wellbeing, including anti-bullying policies and procedures, as well as policies and procedures for addressing harassment, including cyberbullying. Additionally, Child Safe Standard 9 requires schools to create physical and online environments that promote safety and wellbeing and minimise the opportunity for children and young people to be harmed.

What is considered Bullying?

Bullying is an ongoing and deliberate misuse of power in relationships through repeated verbal, physical and/or social behaviour that intends to cause physical, social and/or psychological harm.  As a school, we will consider whether an incident involving racism is bullying, racial abuse, vilification or a combination of these. Depending on the severity of the behaviour, further action may be required. For more information, refer to our new Preventing and addressing racism in Schools. Covert bullying can be very difficult for someone outside of the interaction to identify. It can include hand gestures and threatening looks, whispering, excluding or turning one's back on a person, restricting where a person can sit and with whom they can talk. Social bullying (spreading rumours, manipulation of relationships, excluding, isolating) is often covert bullying.

Bullystoppers has released a new resource to support responding to Bullying.

If you have any concerns about bullying and your child at our school, then please do not hesitate to contact the school.

Enjoy your weekend.
