Middle School

Reading at Home
The benefits of reading are many and varied. In addition to the wonderful collection of books in our Library, the Middle School is pleased to launch our new reading app, “Sora”. Every student has the app on their iPad which gives them 24 hour access to thousands of age appropriate ebooks, audiobooks and comics.
The app is colourful and interactive and includes fiction, non-fiction and biography. Students can set reading goals and track their own progress. Students have the option to change the font size and style (including a dyslexic font).
All ebooks have a text to voice function which can assist students with tricky words. Library staff are in the process of showing students how to log on and get set up. We encourage parents to explore the app together with their child.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact Library staff, Jayne Martin and Nicole Parums.

Middle School Uniform Reminder
We would like to issue a brief reminder regarding our uniform expectations. Students are not to wear non-uniform items to school, including beanies, hoodies and non-school tights (for example, Lululemon tights). Students may wear sports uniforms for the day if they have one or more physically active learning experiences during a school day. This includes HPE, Outdoor Education/excursions (unless otherwise advised), Dance, Drama Connections and school sports/co-curricular training or school sports/co-curricular match/activity, or if they ride a bicycle to School over a substantial distance (to be negotiated with a Head of Middle School). If there is a day in the week for which none of these apply, students are expected to wear their formal uniform. Students are not to wear items of the Sports uniform and the Formal uniform together.

SPEAK UP! Stay ChatTY - Shorts Day 2025
Friday 20 June
SPEAK UP! Stay ChatTY has sparked thousands of powerful conversations in schools, sporting clubs and workplaces about mental health and breaking down the stigma surrounding mental illness and suicide. The Middle School would like to support this initiative by running a SHORTS Day on Friday 20 June.
We will come together in our brightest pair of shorts to brave the cold… and brave the conversation for SPEAK UP! Stay ChatTY and make a gold coin donation for a good cause.
Students can choose from the following:
- Wear shorts with their sports uniform, even if it’s not their regular sports uniform day.
- Or wear shorts with their formal uniform
For more information about the event, please watch this video.
Let’s get behind this fantastic initiative
