From the Year 6 Classroom

Dear Parents and Families,
We’ve had a wonderful start to Term 2, and Year 6 is already buzzing with learning and engagement across all areas of the curriculum!
Literacy
In Reading, we’ve begun exploring Us Mob Walawurru – a compelling novel that offers insight into Indigenous culture and perspectives. The students are already deeply engaged with the story and characters. In Writing, we’ve been focusing on factual recounts, with a special emphasis on the 1967 Referendum. This important moment in Australian history has sparked thoughtful discussion and curiosity among our students.
Numeracy
We are deepening our understanding of fractions – exploring equivalence, comparing and ordering fractions, and applying them to problem-solving situations. Students are working hard and showing great persistence with these important concepts.
Religious Education
Our focus in RE is Pentecost. We are exploring the significance of this event for the early Church and how the Holy Spirit continues to guide and inspire us today.
Inquiry – A Diverse and Connected World
In Inquiry, we’ve started our new unit exploring how people and places around the world are interconnected. We are looking at how culture, trade, and communication shape the way we live and relate to others across the globe.
