Sydney Dance Company

On the 18th March as part of the Sydney Dance Company Tour in Melbourne the Performing Arts Program at MPPS were lucky enough to secure space for 25 grade 5 and 6 students who enjoyed a Contemporary Creative Dance workshop.

Led by Company dancers, Sydney Dance Company Contemporary Creative Workshops are a unique opportunity to experience how Sydney Dance Company creates and performs new and original movement. Participants will be guided through a contemporary technique warm-up, learn a section of Sydney Dance Company repertoire and challenged with a composition task from the touring production. Well done to all students involved in the workshop. Amazing work!

Soul Sonics Music Workshop 

 On Thursday 13th March a select group of 5/6 students took part in the Soul Sonics Workshop. This Workshop is part of the Musical Futures Victoria Initiative and involved lots of fun  hands on activities in and around Music and Technology with a particular focus on recording sounds around their school environment and create a musical

composition using those sounds which they presented at the end of the session. I look forward to sharing all these awesome sounds files with the students next week.

Kaboom Percussion Incursion

On Thursday 6th March Kaboom Percussion came into the school for a fun and interactive performance for all Prep to Grade 4 students. Throughout the show Kaboom demonstrated multiple aspects of the science of sound production in fun and engaging ways, while showing students how they can recycle and reuse everyday items to craft their own unique musical creations. The students were at the heart of this interactive experience, as together we all explored the captivating world of body percussion to create rhythms and grooves throughout the show.
