Learning
Thank you to everyone who attended our Celebration of Learning last week. It was great to see our students showing their learning for Term 1.
Congratulations to our raffle winners! We hope you enjoy your new Lego!
All the grade 4`s went on a fun incursion.
First, we played with robots! We chose our groups of 3 and got right into it! We started with the basics. We did the first one, it was hard at the start but then we got the hang of it. We moved onto the next one, it was a little hard. The last one was HARD, I mean it. I don't even think anyone beat it.
Second, we had VR headsets, it was the BEST. When I put the headset on, it felt like I was in a virtual world! There was a list of games to play! I forgot to mention, the funniest part was Simon dancing with the robot!
It was time to move on…
… To electronics! Our last activity. We had lots of parts to make lots of things. We made lights, flying fans and even a happy birthday song! I Made a big thing but sadly it didn't work =(
Overall, we had lots of fun and this incursion was one of the best!

Today the company DREAM CITY came to our school to teach us how to use equipment like VR, Robots and programming. 🤖🤖🤖
Firstly, we coded on the robot. We coded with iPad. The First thing we made the robot do was go in a square. It was hard but FUN! Rate:5/10.
Secondly, we went to the gym to use the VR. My Fav game was the shooting game. I did the best with the solo gun. Rate:0/10
Finally, we built with electronics. There was a briefcase full of stuff to be an engineer. Rate:7/10.

“Ring, Ring, Ring, Ring,” went my alarm.
Instead of going back to sleep I got up straight away mostly because of the incursion.
After getting ready I went to school.
I was so excited for Dream City to come to the school.
Once Mrs Carabott did the roll 4C went to our first activity which was robotics.
We had these little robots that we treated like our own babies.
At first, I thought it was fun but then I started to realise that coding is not for me.
The next activity which was probably my favourite. I got to play lots of fun games.
I liked to dance with the robot. I also didn't really like it because I always felt like falling. I will admit that I took little peeks to see what people looked like and it was HILARIOUS!
For the last activity we did electronics. It was very fun, and I even felt inspired to do engineering as my job but then it was starting to get confusing, so I changed my mind.
I just want to say thank you Mum and Dad for signing my note because of you guys I got to have loads of fun and have a great TIME!!!
Last week, we had an amazing experience with DreamCity! My favourite was using a VR headset - it was super fun. I thought I was in a fantasy world. Fruit Ninja was fun too! It even simulates sword sounds, which was so cool. Even the tutorial was fun. I wish the whole day could start again. A VR headset is a thing that you must buy, because it’s super entertaining and fun. You will have fun times with your family!

One of our activities was robots! We had to go in a group of 4. I was with Meyer, Abigail and Hannah! So, we had to direct the robot to go in a square. It took us nearly the whole robot session! Lastly, we did Virtual Reality. For V.R. at first, I was very nervous. Soon I was not scared at all! I was excited, because I didn’t expect it to be fun. I LOVED IT! DreamCity should be more popular than YouTube!

Last week, the Year 4s had an incursion and it was so fun! First, we got to build some electronic things. We even made a lamp, a fan and a speaker. Second, we got to control a robotic car by coding an iPad. Third, we got to play VR.

Today the year 4’s had an incursion and it was for a whole 3 hours. I was so excited! First, we had a go on the… VR HEADSETS!!! They explained the two rules they had 1.Have fun 2. Listen to the instructions. At first, I thought you could see a virtual world inside where you can pick stuff up and walk up to stuff. But when I put it on it was different, but it was way more fun than I thought.
Next, we did electrical engineering. It is where you had to build a circuit. We worked in pairs and we got some lab coats to work with. We got a suitcase-like box, and it looked so cool. We had so many circuits to build me and my partner aced all of it. Our class had done the most circuits.
Lastly, we were coding robots with an iPad and we had to get into groups of four. Every time we pass a problem we get to program the robot to go a speed higher. My group passed 3 levels but we did not have time to finish our fourth one. I was really into it.
My favourite part was the… VR headsets. We had a great time and I really enjoyed it. I can't wait for Dream City to come again.

VR Headset
First, we went to the VR headset and we did a tutorial that was very cool. The tutorial was like dancing with a robot and shooting targets with cool guns. After that we could do free time on the headset and play games on it. It was really fun to do, it was my favourite one
Electrical Engineering
Next, we went to Electrical Engineering. We built a light bulb, an alarm and a music thing that plays music when it’s turned on. It was amazing. We also got to wear a lab coat. My one was big. There was a music thing, an alarm thing and also a 100k horseshoe thing.
Coding a Robot
Lastly, we went to code a robot and make them go past obstacles like ramps, a bridge and a mat with all the rainbow colours. We had to sense the colours. The robots look like
a car but with a long wheel.
We did this on Thursday and for three hours/three sessions.
At Deer Park West Primary School, every Wednesday the school participates in Waste Free Wednesday. The students are encouraged to bring a lunch box with NO RUBBISH for both recess and lunch. This is a great way to reduce the amount of waste we create in order to make the earth healthier.
Please assist your child/children in doing this by taking items out of their packets before coming to school.
Thank you,

Congratulations to 4C, our Waste Free WINNERS!
