Level 1

Literacy

We have had a fantastic start to Term 2, with everyone returning recharged and enthusiastic about the learning ahead. This week, we began our new Inquiry unit, 'Heroes and Villains', with a focus on exploring fairy tales.

We began with the story 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears' in which the students have enjoyed participating in a range of thinking routines to investigate the positive and negative choices made by the characters. This has helped us to begin to develop a deeper understanding of ethical behaviour and what it means to make responsible decisions.

We’re excited to continue exploring more tales and uncover the lessons they hold about right and wrong, courage, and character!

ANZAC Day

This week we commemorated Australians, New Zealanders and many others who sacrificed their lives to help keep our country safe and peaceful. We honoured them by having a special assembly and creating wreaths to lay at our flagpole.

In the classroom, we learned more about this day and enjoyed reading a special story called ‘ANZAC Ted’. This story was about a boy’s childhood teddy bear that went to war with him when he was older. It provided courage, hope and love to help bring the soldiers home.

Maths

The students have been enjoying learning about Australian coins this week. We have explored the value, shape, colour and unique designs of each of the coins. We are learning how to order the coins and to make different combinations to make a dollar.

Green Thumbs

We are so excited because the Level 1 Green Thumbs have received their badges. Congratulations Stella, Emma, Mil, Jett, Herbie, Ellie, Charlie and Matilda! We know that you will continue to do a wonderful job representing the Level 1 students!
