STEAM News

It has been wonderful to see the students excited to be back in the STEAM classroom for Term 2. 

 

Foundation

Students are exploring robotics. They have been introduced to the bee-bot robots and learning how to give clear commands with positional language and arrows. 

 

Grade 1

Grade 1 students are exploring space exploration and we-do robotics. Students combine Lego engineering with coding to program Milo space rovers to perform a range of explorations.

 

Grade 2

Grade 2 students are coding mazes using Scratch Junior, building on their previous drag and drop skills to use a range of communication and trigger blocks within their codes. 

 

Grade 3 

Grade 3 students are designing inclusive playgrounds and avatars using the online 3D design program Tinkercad and the 3D rulers Splat tools.

 

Grade 4

Grade 4 students are exploring robotics and design thinking with the new Lego sprite kits. Students have created their bot and are now coding their robot to detect colour and light and avoid obstacles.

 

Grade 5 and 6

Grade 5 and 6 are continuing with their collaborative engineering project, building model bridges in response to various community briefs.

 

STEAM club 

This term, Students will have an opportunity to learn to use i-movie and greenscreen technology. Students throughout the school are invited to come along and learn from our digital and STEAM captains.

 

Week 2: Digital explorer-green screens and i-movie

Week 3-6: Stop motion and animation (3-6) and Puppet pals and Scratch junior(F-2)

Week 7-9: 3D design using Tinkercad (3-6)

 

 

Resources wanted

If you have any empty tissue boxes or shoe boxes that you no longer need, please consider donating these to the STEAM room for construction projects.
