Stage 5 Year 10 Computing Technology Working with Microprocessors

Students in Year 10 Computing Technology are about to creating a smart device based on the materials that they receive. Students are to complete this by the beginning of Term 2.

Students have been developing skills in using Arduinos and Microbits including coding them to complete the circuit in preparation for their Assessment Task. 

Most students have been able to compete this task and understand the concepts to be able to complete the Assessment Task. Some of the students have been creating buzzers and light switches.

Students will be using a kit called “Elecfrecks Classroom Smart Home Kit” and a Microbit processor, students will be creating a Smart Device. Students must code it and attempt to make it work.

As a part of the Assessment, they are creating a Smart Home device which they have to code to complete the task by creating a house with the parts to show how their device would work in real life.

Students had to demonstrate that their coding worked and then write a short report on how they achieved the Smart Device and their coding.
