OLA Homework Policy

Please find our OLA Homework Policy (click here)

The purpose of homework is to reinforce learning, promote independent learning, and help students develop skills such as time management, responsibility, and self-discipline. It provides an opportunity for students to practice what they've learned in class.

Homework should not be overwhelming or excessive. Once it becomes stressful or frustrating it should stop. It should not take away from a student's wellbeing, leisure time, or opportunities for family interaction.

Sizzling Starters

Sizzling starters in writing are engaging, attention-grabbing openings that hook the reader right from the beginning. They can include a thought-provoking question, a vivid description, a surprising fact, or an intriguing statement that sparks curiosity. The goal is to make the reader want to keep reading by creating an immediate connection and setting the tone for the rest of the piece. A sizzling starter pulls the reader in and encourages them to continue exploring the story or topic.

The chidlren from 2MV shared their sizzling starters with me and I was definitely intrigued.

Celebration of Learning!

We celebrate achievements at OLA every day in the classroom. Outstanding achievement is celebrated at every assembly in the front of the school. Congratulations to all the students who received an award last week.
