Hello from the Parents and Friends Committee (PFC)!

We’ve had a busy start to the year so far with the election of the new Committee at our AGM, a free dress day, and Chop Top day.

Next PFC Event:

Preparations are well under way for the Mother’s Day stall which will be held on Monday May 5th.  A flyer with details on ordering tokens can be found on Compass as well as posted around the school.

Want to get involved?

Three ways you can get involved:

  1. Email us your questions, ideas, or feedback here: langwarrinparkpfc@gmail.com We’d love to hear from you!
  2. Attend a meeting. Next meeting TBA.
  3. Volunteer to help with an event (more on this below).

Current Volunteering Opportunities

  • All volunteers must have a valid Working With Children Check and have completed the Child Safe module.
  • You can volunteer as a one off or for everything. This year we are trialing an online volunteer sign up sheet so that families can see what we need help with and sign up to lend a hand.
  • If you have time to help out with the Mother’s Day stall (May 5th) please head to the following link to sign up. volunteersignup.org/7E9D7

We’d like to say a huge THANK YOU to the families who have already attended meetings and given us a hand.

We’re looking forward to working together with the school community to make 2025 a super fun year for all students.

Yours in fun-ness,

The PFC

A Heartfelt Thank You for Your Incredible Support!

I just want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for your generous support of our ICAN Challenge kids today. Your kindness and willingness to give truly make a difference, and we couldn't do this without you!

For those who are new to our school community, I’d love to share a little background on this incredible initiative. Every two years, the four Langwarrin Thrive schools—Langwarrin Park Primary, Woodlands Primary, Langwarrin Primary, and Elisabeth Murdoch College—come together for an extraordinary event to raise funds for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal. This year, we’re thrilled to welcome Pearcedale Primary into the challenge for the first time!

Our dedicated students will be undertaking an incredible physical and mental challenge, walking between 25 to 50 kilometres from St Kilda to Frankston. They will begin before dawn and push through until mid-afternoon, hopefully arriving at Frankston Pier in one piece! In past years, they’ve been met with a fantastic mini carnival, featuring food trucks, music, and an official medal presentation by the Mayor of Frankston—a truly memorable and rewarding experience for these young champions.

Two years ago, our students and community raised an astonishing $230,000, and this year, we’re aiming even higher with a goal of $250,000. As of this morning, we are already close to $138,000, which is absolutely incredible!

Our Grade 5 and 6 students have been training since Term 4 last year, and if you’ve ever spotted Mrs. McInnes and her "flock of ducklings" walking the streets before and after school, now you know why! If you see them out and about, be sure to give them a friendly wave or a supportive toot—it means the world to them!

Each school is responsible for running a support station along the route, and this year, our school has the privilege of managing the lunch station in Mordialloc. This is why we’ve asked our amazing school community to dig deep and help us support these remarkable kids as they take on this challenge for the kids who need it most.

From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU for your generosity, your encouragement, and your belief in our students. You are helping to teach them the power of resilience, compassion, and community—and that is truly priceless.

Let’s do this together! 💙💛 #ICANChallenge #ForTheKids #StrongerTogetherThank You
