Easter Services 2025

‘Inspired by hope’

On Wednesday, across three different services with a mix of Primary and Secondary students our community looked to the events of Easter to be inspired by the hope we find in Jesus. We were well led in our singing by the Junior and Secondary Singers. It was also a treat to have the Drama Club provide a modernised retelling of the parable of the Prodigal Son. Our School Captains, Vice-Captains and Year 6 Leaders led us well in readings and prayers.

Our journey moved us from the triumphal arrival of Jesus, the humble servant King, in Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, down to the sadness of Jesus on the cross on Good Friday, and then up again in joy at Jesus' rising to new life.

This year's Easter message highlighted that hope looks to the future, as seen in the rescue of a wombat aptly named Hope and that Christian hope is also anchored in the past. Jesus' death on the cross for our sins and his resurrection to new life are the two events that give us a sure and certain hope, through faith in Jesus, of a guaranteed future with God. By trusting in our saviour and king, Jesus, we are then able to follow his way of sharing hope with the world through words and actions.

The Junior singers beautifully captured the emotion of hope in their performance of All Things Bright and Beautiful. We were also able to give thanks for all of God’s goodness in our lives and the opportunity to share that with others, especially the generous Lenten gifts from Years 7 and 8 for the Neighbourhood House.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy, he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.”

1 Peter 1:3.

May all our school community have a safe and blessed Easter! I finish with the traditional Easter shout of praise, Christ is risen, Alleluia. He is risen indeed, Alleluia!
