Primary School

What a fantastic way to end our first Term! It was great to see our students, staff and many of our families come together at the Primary Easter Celebrations this morning. It was wonderful to start the festivities with the annual Easter Bonnet Parade, where students were able to show off their creative bonnets. We would like to thank Mr Brett Harris for his role as MC and Mr Mike Hearn for organising the wonderful performances throughout the morning. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff in Maintenance, IT and Communications and Events who worked behind the scenes to ensure this event was enjoyed by everyone. We would also like to thank the classroom teachers for planning such fun Easter activities for the students and their families to enjoy in the classrooms afterwards.

Learn to Swim Program

Students in Years 2 and 3 participated in their annual Learn to Swim Program last week. School swimming and water safety programs give primary students in NSW schools the opportunity to learn vital swimming and water safety skills.

“At the pool, we learned freestyle every day. In my group Sharks, I had Jethro, William, Adam, Mayli Hunter and Louis, it was so fun. The first time we went in it was freezing but when we were in for a little bit, I felt warm. We did slinkies and the teacher put a hoop under the water and we went under it. On Friday, our last day, Miss Delmenico did a bomb into the pool, and we did a whirlpool. It was so fun.”

“At the pool we learned freestyle with and without boards. On Thursday, we put on life jackets and went into the deep end of the pool. I was very scared to jump into the pool, but I did it. When we hopped in the pool, I felt cold but when I started to swim, I started to get warm. I enjoyed the whirlpool on Friday. Guess what happened on Friday, Miss Delmenico did a bomb into the pool.”

“On Monday in Week 9, we were very excited for the swimming program. In period 4, we got changed and ready. After we got changed, we had a bite of our lunch then the bus arrived. We all got on and we were buzzing with excitement. When we got to the pool we went into our groups. There were: dolphins, sharks, seahorses and starfish. Most of the groups did survival backstroke. At the end of the lesson, we lined up again and got on the bus to head back to school. For each of the days we did this, we also did freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke. When it was Friday, everyone was sad but happy at the same time because we got to do the whirlpool. We all ran in a circle one way and then we went the other way, and the current pushed you back, it was really fun. After that we got on the bus and went back to school. Thank you to Mrs Frew and Mrs Day for coming along with us each day.

Primary Assembly

On Friday 28 March, the Primary School community connected at the Primary Assembly. I would like to congratulate Rafael Hildebrand and Isabelle Davidson, two of our Year 6 School Leaders, for confidently running the Assembly. We enjoyed beautiful performances from Georgia Smith on piano, the Jnr Singers who sang "Die With a Smile" by Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga and The Year 3 Rock Band who had everyone clapping along to their tunes.

We watched Amelia Goodsell swim her 50-metre freestyle race at the NSWCIS Primary Swimming Championships in Sydney. The crowd cheered her on as she broke her personal best by 4 seconds, placing 27th overall with a time of 44.93 seconds, achieving a new Australian Junior Excellence Program standard. Congratulations Amelia!

We welcomed Tim Dawes and Julie Mansfield from Kiwanis, a global organisation whose mission is to empower communities and improve the world by making lasting differences in the lives of children, striving to be a positive influence worldwide. Tim and Julie introduced the Terrific Kids Awards program which will start in Term 2. Each Term, teachers select one student in their class who meets the Terrific Kids criteria and those students will be presented with their Kiwani Award at the final Primary Assembly each term.

Congratulations to the Kindergarten students for their wonderful performance presenting a snapshot of their Year 5 buddy sessions throughout Term 1 and surprising us by singing an Italian song learnt in class. We look forward to our next Assembly on Thursday 22 May when the Year 4 students will perform for us. Congratulations to the students below who received a Core Value Award for consistently displaying one or more of the School’s Core Values and Motto. Keep up the great work!

Student Achievement

Congratulations to Oliver Patten (Year 5) who won the Goulburn Murray Golf Association Junior Series, Peter Fraser Classic at Parkland Golf Club in Kyabram on Sunday March 30. Oliver had 46 shots and won the Division 2, 9-hole event. This is an amazing achievement, and we wish him all the best as he prepares for his next event on Tuesday April 9 in Kialla.

Early Stage 1 Assembly

On Wednesday 26 March, our Kindergarten students gathered for the Early Stage 1 Assembly. Before the Assembly, the students enjoyed a picnic recess together, chatting and playing with friends. We proudly celebrated our Kindergarten ‘Super Star’ achievement award recipients, Logan Cain and Dax Cummins; congratulations to both!

Ms Gregory also shared a recent photo of our Kinder students featured in the ‘Back to School’ section of the Riverine Herald. It was a wonderful opportunity for students to connect, celebrate achievements, and enjoy time together.

ICAS All-stars

ICAS All-Stars is a new initiative that builds on the tradition of ICAS Academic testing competitions by offering students the opportunity to be celebrated as state champions. This exclusive event, which is held in Sydney on Good Friday recognises the top academic achievers in the state, giving students a platform to showcase their skills and gain recognition at a more competitive level. We would like to wish those students who are travelling to Sydney to compete all the best and good luck!

We are experiencing great interest in our school, which is reflected in the number of enrolment applications we have received for 2026 and beyond. We strongly encourage families who are considering enrolment at Moama Anglican Grammar and have not yet applied to promptly apply online. Particular urgency exists for entry into our Kindergarten classes for 2026.
