New Arrivals

Over this term, the Library team, with support from our student volunteers, has been working hard to catalogue and distribute our new books and Teacher Resources.

Scholastic Book Club

Since the last newsletter, all Scholastic Book Club orders have been delivered to classrooms and distributed to students.

Resource Centre Committee

Over the past fortnight, we shared a communication outlining the various Co-Curricular activities available at our school. Among these was information about the Resource Centre Committee.

We warmly welcome students from Years 4–12 to join the committee and help plan lunchtime activities, events and other exciting initiatives.

The committee meets every Monday at lunchtime in RC2 (Computer Lab). We’d love to see you there!

Premier's Reading Challenge

The challenge begins on February 24th.

The challenge closes on August 22nd.

The Premier's Reading Challenge (PRC) is upon us again.

As the term draws to a close, all students should have now received their Premier’s Reading Challenge (PRC) login details either written in their student diaries or sent via email from Ms Height. If you have not yet received these details, please contact Ms Height via email at library@moamagrammar.nsw.edu.au,and she will provide them to you as soon as possible.

If you would like to begin sourcing books for your child/ren to read for the Challenge, we encourage you to preview the reading lists available on the PRC website: https://online.det.nsw.edu.au/prc/booklist/home.html

In our last newsletter, we outlined the first six PRC rules. Today, we highlight Rules 7–9:

Rule 7 – Challenge Levels and Support Options

  • 7a. K–2 students only: If you are independently reading simple chapter books, you may attempt the Years 3–4 Challenge. You’ll need to have your Student Reading Record updated to Challenge Level 3–4. Please see your PRC coordinator for assistance.
  • 7b. Years 3–4, 5–6, and 7–10 students: Students with special needs who may find it difficult to complete the Challenge at their grade level can participate in the 3–10 Challenge. This allows them to read 20 books from any Challenge level (including K–2), with support as needed. PRC coordinators must submit change requests for this option by 31 July.
  • 7c. All students: If you are facing circumstances that make completing the Challenge difficult, speak with your PRC coordinator. Coordinators can make school-based adjustments and, where needed, contact the PRC team for further support.

Rule 8 – Audio Support

Students in Years 3–10 may listen to unabridged audio versions of books if their teacher recommends it, provided they read along with the text.

Rule 9 – Certificate Eligibility

To be eligible for a PRC certificate in Term 4, students must complete their online Student Reading Record by 22 August 2025 and have it validated by the school by 11:59 pm on 5 September 2025.

In our next newsletter, we’ll outline Rules 10–13, which explain how and when students receive various certificates, including the prestigious PRC Medal.

Borrowing and Returns

Students may borrow and return books before school, recess, lunchtime and after school. Primary School students also have the chance to borrow books during their fortnightly Library lessons.

Borrowing Permissions

If students are requesting to borrow books above their age level, we request parents to write a letter regarding their permission for their child to borrow and read a specific book which will be reviewed by library staff.

Renewals

Students are able to re-borrow books for an additional two weeks by speaking to staff at the Library Circulation Desk. If further borrowing is requested after this, students are required to bring their book/s with them to allow the staff to see the book. In addition, students can renew their book/s by emailing the Library.

Requests

If your child would like to borrow a specific book and the title is not included in our current catalogue, we will add this to our purchase wishlist.

Overdue notices

If you receive an overdue notice, there is a chance that the books may have been processed through our system after the email was sent. We encourage all parents to follow up on any issues by emailing the Resource Centre at library@moamagrammar.nsw.edu.au

If you have any other enquiries, issues or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us via phone by ringing the main office or via email address library@moamagrammar.nsw.edu.au
