Cricket Awards

 

As the 2024-25 Cricket Tasmania Premier League season comes to a close, the Rodwell and Fazackerley Medals ceremony took place at Ninja Stadium last week. 

 

This event celebrated the outstanding achievements across all Premier Cricket grades in Tasmania.

 

Congratulations to Jonty De Cotter (Year 10) and Hayden Clark-Sullivan (Year 11) for their remarkable achievements.

 

Jonty was awarded the Tim Paine Medal for being the best and fairest U16 player, earning a total of 24 votes while representing Glenorchy Cricket Club.

 

Hayden received the U18 Bowling Average and Aggregate awards for taking 24 wickets while playing for Clarence Cricket Club.

 

Well done to all award winners!

Despite missing a few key members, Team sVc delivered impressive results across all events, successfully reclaiming the Boys Junior Shield.

2025 Term 2 Co-Curricular Activities - Registrations Close TODAY

 

Registrations are now open for the following Term 2 Co-Curricular activities:

  • SSATIS AFL Football: Years 7-8 (Wednesday afternoons at various schools)
  • SATIS State Wide (Regional) 2nd's AFL Football: Years 9-12 (Wednesday afternoons)

          (Note SSATIS AFL Football: Years 9/10 is played in Term 3)

  • Hockey: Years 11-12 (Division 1 Thursday afternoons)
  • Hockey: Years 9-10 (Division 2 Wednesday afternoons)
  • Rugby Union: Years 7-12 (Friday afternoons / Saturday mornings at Rugby Park + weekday training)
  • Badminton Development: Years 7-12 (Tuesday afternoons in the ER Hall)
  • Badminton: Years 7-10 (Friday afternoons at various schools)

 

Registrations close at 5.00 pm on Friday 4 April 2025. To register, please click here to complete the Google Form.

No need to re-register for activities from Term 1 that continue into Term 2. Please check with your co-curricular activity coordinator or coach. These ongoing activities are:

Where numbers and or resources dictate, selection trials and criteria may be required.

Further information regarding rosters, days, times, teams, and/or training details for the above Term 2 Co-Curricular Activities will be provided as soon as possible.

Sports Teams - Please note: The College will transport the boys from Austins Ferry after school to their respective venues each afternoon via bus. Parents are to collect the boys at the conclusion of their match or training.

Boys are required to provide their own sport-specific uniforms (different from the official school day sports uniform), which can be purchased through the Uniform Shop. The Uniform Shop is open Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday, 8.00 am - 4.00 pm or can be contacted at 6249 3610 or st.virgils@midford.com.au

It is a condition of participation in all SVC Sport Programs that students are consistently meeting the College's behaviour and academic effort expectations. Representing the College is a privilege, and ongoing participation in Co-Curricular Activities is subject to behaviour tracking and advice from Heads of House and College Leadership.

SSATIS Finals

 

Good luck to all students involved in SSATIS Basketball or Tennis finals next week.  At this stage, with one week of fixtures to go, Team sVc should be represented in 2nd Grade, Year 7 Div 2, Year 8 Div 2,  Year 9 Div 1, and with some tight battles to make finals in a few other year groups and divisions.

 

Team sVc has also made the semi-finals in the 1st Grade Tennis roster with a very young team, spearheaded by Year 9 student athlete Charlie Marsden.  

 

Charlie has been in red-hot form of late, qualifying to compete in the 2025 Australian Clay Court Championships in the U14 Boys competition being held 12-17 April in Canberra.  Charlie has also been selected in the state team to represent Tasmania at the upcoming Pizzey Cup, 3-10 May in Bendigo, Victoria. The Pizzey Cup is a prestigious national schools tennis championship open to girls and boys aged 18 and under. The Pizzey Cup provides secondary school students with the opportunity to represent their state, in teams of eight players, and compete against the best players from other states across Australia.  Well done, Charlie, and we wish you all the best in the upcoming tournaments.

Team sVc will also be represented at the following championships and tournament during the upcoming school holidays.

 

  • Tasmanian Schools Team Racing State Championships (Sailing) at Sandy Bay Sailing Club: 5-6 April.
  • EREA National Football (Soccer) Tournament at Nudgee College, Brisbane: 13-17 April.
