Science

As the Term break comes closer, some weariness and illness is bound to catch up with us. However, we have so much to be grateful for and so much to celebrate because the term has been full of change and success.

On Wednesday, Mrs McIntosh alerted me to the seismometer in the prep room as it registered the earthquake off the south coast of New Zealand. It was 7 on the Richter scale which is a very strong earthquake. Our seismometer is linked by Geoscience Australia to a vast network covering all places around the globe.

Geoscience Australia has many educational resources. If you are in or around Canberra over the term break, I suggest you have a visit to its Education Centre (https://www.ga.gov.au/education/visit-our-education-centre)

At the moment, Year 9 are looking at energy efficient homes and in response to the latest council community meeting.  Students are designing small 2-3 bedroom houses to improve social housing access and are considering energy efficiency improvements. Students have been working hard trying to understand room dimensions and materials and are doing a great job.

Year 11 Biology class  with Mrs Morrison working hard as usual in the lab and enjoying every minute

Hopefully the rain will come tonight for some much needed relief for us and our beautiful gardens. Relax and enjoy

Best wishes
