Upper Primary (Years 5-6)
Upper Primary students had a wonderful excursion on Tuesday. Students went on a bus tour, looking at different landmarks around the local community and city. They were able to identify the landmarks we have been learning about during the Term and locate them on their checklist. Students demonstrated the Jackson School values of Safety, Respect and Responsibility while travelling on the bus. In our Jackson Social lessons, students have been working on taking turns in play and conversations.
Lower Secondary (Years 7-8)
The Year 7/8 cohort have been continuing their inquiry into Australia, with a focus on exploring different landmarks around the country. This has tied in beautifully with our reading sessions, where we have been studying Are We There Yet? by Alison Lester, a story about a family travelling around Australia and visiting many of the same landmarks we've been learning about. In our writing lessons, students have been drafting, writing, and publishing postcards, allowing them to build on their descriptive language skills while creatively reflecting on the places they’ve explored.
In Maths, we’ve been exploring measurement by experimenting with different containers, comparing and ordering them by capacity. Students have enjoyed these hands-on activities and making connections across their learning.
