Catholic Education Week Mass for St Patrick's Day
On Friday last week, the School Captains (Carsten and Ivy) and the RE Leaders (Tiffany and Andrew) went to St.Patrick's Cathedral in the city by tram. Mr McFarlane handed us Mykis to pay for transportation. When we got there, the cathedral was packed with students from other schools. There were a total of 297 schools and 15000 students at the mass. The mass was 2 hours long and was live streamed. At the start of the mass, Carsten and Ivy were chosen to carry our school banner down the aisle. The Archbishop, Most Reverend Peter A. Comensoli was celebrating the mass, which made it more special. At the end, we got handed a card with a prayer on the back:
I arise today, through
God’s strength to pilot me,
God’s might to uphold me,
God’s wisdom to guide me,
God’s eye to look before me,
God’s ear to hear me,
God’s word to speak for me,
God’s hand to guard me,
God’s shield to protect me,
God’s host to save me
From snares of devils,
From temptation of vices,
From everyone who shall wish me ill,
Afar and near.
After the long mass, we went to a concert from the Melbourne Catholic Archdiocese. They had lots of singing and lots of schools were there. It was a great experience for all of us.
