Parents & Friends

Hi all,

Election Day is just one day away now, and P&F are very busy organising lots of fun for the day, including a whole day BBQ (complete with egg and bacon rolls for breakfast!), a yummy cake stall and lots of secondhand books and toys to browse.  There are a number of ways you can get involved!

Federal Election 2025 - Saturday 3 May

The federal election is now just one day away, and there is lots planned for the MPRPS polling location.  This year, we will be running a BBQ, a cake stall, a secondhand book stall and a secondhand childrens toys and games stall on the day, which are always very well received by the community.

Volunteer on the Day

On the Saturday, we require almost 100 hours of volunteer time to successfully run the day.  I really do need your help with this, so if you can spare an hour or two to help us out, it would be greatly appreciated.  You can find the roster at https://volunteersignup.org/BACMT

Cake Stall

Cake stall forms were sent home yesterday, if you didn't get one, there are spares at the P&F table in reception.  If you're able to bake something yummy for us to sell, we'll be collecting and wrapping these next Friday, May 2.  I'll confirm a drop off location as soon as I know as we are unlikely to be able to use our usual kinder location.

P&F Meetings

Our next P&F meeting will be held in the staff room at school next week on Wednesday 30 April 9:00am - 9:30am.

P&F meetings are open to all, and I would encourage you to come along and have a chat, and find out more about what we do.

Mother's and Special Persons Day Stalls

Once election is over with, we move straight to Mother's and Special Persons Day Stalls in week 3.  Kinder stalls will run on Wednesday 7 and Thursday 8 May ($2 per child).

The school stall will be held on Friday 9 May, 9am to 12pm, with gifts ranging from $1-5.

If you are free to help out on any of the above days, please sign up at https://volunteersignup.org/CKHQQ.  A valid WWCC is essential to volunteer on the day.

Seussical Jr Cookies

Thanks to the fabulous Sarah K, we are selling Seussical Jr cookies at Reception to get us ready for next week's amazing performances.  Cookies are $2.50 each and stock is strictly limited, so get in quick to grab yours before they run out!

Class WhatsApp Groups

All class WhatsApp groups have been set up for 2025.  If you have not received the details for your class chat, please email me at mprps.pf@gmail.com with your child's name and the class they are in, and I'll get you the right links.  These groups will play an important role in our communications this year, alongside our notices and the newsletter.

Community Support Representative

Our Community Support Representative is Jess Walker, who has been part of the MPRPS community as a parent for over 17 years.  Over her time, she has seen many changes at the school: staff, buildings, curriculum, events and many more. But the one thing that has never changed is the sense of connection and community our school offers.  Whether it's manning a Mother's or Father's Day stall, cooking sausages at Twilight Sports, being a parent helper in the classroom or having a coffee catch up with other parents after drop off, these are all valuable connections to our school community.

Another way in which MPRPS fosters connection to the community is by aiding families who may need a helping hand.  All families struggle with something at some time, and we can help make those times a bit more bearable.  Some of the ways we can assist is by providing meals to families who are having a difficult time. This could be due to an illness or a death in the family, or any other form of hardship a family may be experiencing. We have also assisted families to borrow or be gifted items for school camps such as raincoats, sleeping bags and other essentials. If we can't help with your request, we will do our best to connect you with services that can.

Jess understands that sometimes it can be difficult to ask for help, and she would like to assure everyone that all requests from parents and carers are confidential.  The community members assisting with the requests are not given the names of the family in need.  You can send Jess an email or text, or you can ask a friend to approach her on your behalf.  Chatting to your friends to bring awareness of this service would also help us spread the word.

If you believe we can be of assistance to you or your family, please email Jess on mprps.community@gmail.com or text/call her on 0433 050 092.
