Connect groups - Term 2
In Term 2, all students will be participating in Connect Groups. Connect Groups will include students from across the school. Each Connect Group will have students from preps, grade 1, grade 2, grade 3/4, and grade 5/6 and one teacher. The students and the teacher may be new to your child and so they will make new friends, or your child may already know some students and or the staff member facilitating their Connect Group.
The Connect Groups will meet during the last session on three Fridays in Term 2. During these Friday sessions students will be participating in activities and developing their skills. Your child will find out what Connect Group they are in during week 2, ready for their first Connect Group in Week 3. Your child has shared their preference through a survey.
Some skills include, creating a board game, making wrist bands, inventing a new sports game, playing chess, making a lizard from beads. There are 17 different skill groups. Check out the poster below or keep an eye out for them around the school.
In Term 3, students will change Connect Groups and the students and teacher facilitating the sessions will change.
We would love up to 2 parents and carers to join our Connect Groups to support the specific skill development. If you have the following please compete the survey below:
- Have a valid Working with Children's Check,
- Have completed the RHPS Child Safe Induction,
- are available for all 3 dates listed above, and
- have an understanding of the skill being developed
please click on the following link to express your interest. https://forms.gle/GybxGQDAQmhU6J438
Emily Murcott will be in contact with you early in Term 2 to confirm your involvement.
If you have any questions, please reach out to Emily on 9726 4454.
Active April: Embracing Movement for a Healthier, Happier School Community
As we step into April, we encourage everyone to participate in "Active April," an initiative inspired by Action for Happiness. This month-long campaign encourages everyone to incorporate daily activities that promote physical health and overall well-being. Engaging in regular movement not only enhances our physical fitness but also boosts mood, reduces stress, and fosters a positive learning environment.
The Action for Happiness "Active April" calendar offers simple, daily action ideas to help us get moving and stay active throughout the month. Here are some highlights:
- April 1: Commit to being more active this month, starting today.
- April 5: Turn a regular activity into a playful game today.
- April 10: Have a day with less screen time and more movement.
- April 17: Be active outside. Plant some seeds and encourage growth.
- April 28: Meet a friend outside for a walk and a chat.
These activities are designed to be accessible and enjoyable for everyone, regardless of fitness level. By participating, we can cultivate healthier habits and strengthen our school community.
We encourage students, staff, and families to download the full "Active April" calendar below and join this journey toward a more active and joyful lifestyle. Let's make this April a month of movement, connection, and happiness!
Free individual and group therapy options through ACAP University College.
(Social Work, Counselling and Psychology)
I recently received information from ACAP University College who are offering individual therapy and group therapy sessions for ages 5 and above through telehealth and face to face at physical locations in Melbourne CBD. They are currently waiving their fees and they do not have a cap on the amount of sessions. Wait times vary depending on location and service delivery preference.
If you are interested, the first step within the process to access services from ACAP is to go through an intake and eligibility phone call. This is a process done over the phone with a clinician and usually takes between 20 - 30 minutes to carry out. This allows their clinician to find out more information in relation to the situation. This information is then reviewed by the Clinic Director to assess suitability for the clinic.
To organise an intake and eligibility phone call, please complete the form below in full and send to clinic@acap.edu.au
