Harmony Day

On Monday, 24 March our school came together to celebrate Harmony Day, a special occasion dedicated to recognize and embrace the diversity within our school and community.

The theme of the day was centred around "Everyone Belongs," highlighting the importance of cultural diversity, inclusivity, and respect.

The day started with a whole-school assembly, where the entire school was a vibrant sea of orange. The orange colour symbolizes a commitment to promoting harmony and inclusion, making the atmosphere feel warm and welcoming. Students and staff wore bright orange clothing and accessories or outfits that represented their unique cultures, proudly showcasing the diverse backgrounds that make up our school.

After assembly, students went to their own classroom to complete a handprint mural activity.  Each student was asked to create a handprint that represented their cultural background or personal identity, using symbols, colours and images. Together, the handprints represent unity, with each student’s unique contribution forming part of a larger, collective effort. The handprints provide a powerful visual reminder that, while we all come from different backgrounds, we are united in our shared values of respect and belonging.

Next, the students moved into multi-aged groups where they engaged in three activities that were specifically designed to promote collaboration, understanding, and creativity. Students from different year levels shared ideas, worked as a team, and learned from one another. It was an excellent opportunity for students to bond across ages, creating lasting friendships and connections.

The day ended on a high note, with everyone feeling a sense of pride in the diversity that makes our school community so special. Harmony Day serves as a reminder that, no matter our differences, we all have a place where we belong.

We are proud of the efforts made by our students and staff to celebrate Harmony Day and look forward to continuing to promote inclusivity and respect every day of the year.

Thank you to everyone who participated and made this day so memorable!
