Gospel: Luke 24:13–35 (The Road to Emmaus)
As we return to Sacred Heart after the holiday break, we hope this time has offered rest and moments of connection with family and friends. The Easter season continues to invite us into a time of hope and new life as we come back together as a school community.
This Sunday’s Gospel shares the powerful story of the Road to Emmaus. Two disciples walk together, feeling confused and disheartened after the events of Easter. Along the way, Jesus joins them but they do not recognise him at first. It is only in the breaking of the bread that their eyes are opened, and they realise he has been with them all along.
This story speaks to our own lives. At times, we too can feel unsure, distracted, or weighed down by what is happening around us. Yet the message of Easter reminds us that we are never walking alone. Like the disciples, we are invited to notice the quiet ways in which hope, and new life comfort us, often when we least expect it.
At Sacred Heart, we continue to reflect on this idea of journey, walking together as a community, supporting one another, and remaining open to moments of wonder and meaning in our everyday lives. As we begin this new term, may we take time to slow down, listen, and recognise the presence of goodness, love, and connection in our world.
