Year 6 Camp

Our Year 6 students enjoyed a fantastic three‑day camp at Camp Kelly this week, setting off on Monday morning with plenty of excitement and a sense of anticipation.

Across the two nights and three days, staff witnessed countless moments of resilience, persistence, brotherhood, and empathy. In a time when school camps are becoming less common, we remain firmly committed to the value they bring. Camp is more than an adventure, it is a powerful formation experience that helps shape boys into capable, confident young men.

One of the most important aspects of camp is independence. Being away from home, organising their belongings, solving problems, and navigating challenges without immediate adult intervention can feel daunting for some boys. Yet it is precisely through these moments of discomfort that real growth occurs. The independence learned at camp strengthens their confidence and prepares them for the transition to Year 7 and beyond.

The boys embraced every activity with enthusiasm, from morning fitness to raft building and navigation challenges to flat‑water rafting and the evening minute-to win-it games. Their teamwork and spirit were wonderful to see.

A heartfelt thank you to the dedicated staff who gave their time and energy to make this experience possible. Your support, encouragement, and willingness to step away from your own families ensured our boys felt safe, supported, and ready to take on new challenges.

My final thanks go to the boys, whose readiness to try new things, embrace discomfort, and support their mates turned camp into a powerful learning experience.

Junior School House Captain Initiatives

Over the term, the House Captains led two key initiatives, both culminating in a special end-of-term event on Thursday, April 2. The Caritas Fundraiser saw each House compete to create the longest “coin snake” using donations collected throughout the term, with House Captains guiding and supporting students from Years 4–6 in the build.

The day also featured House Kickball games, with all Junior School students invited to participate or cheer on their teams based on House standings. Students were encouraged to wear their House sports uniform, with House Captains going the extra mile by adding colourful accessories to boost team spirit and create a vibrant, fun atmosphere.

Farewell Mr McGinty

Today we farewelled Mr McGinty, who has been a valued member of the Junior School staff since joining our community in Semester Two last year. Keith quickly became an important part of our team, forming warm and positive relationships with the boys and contributing wholeheartedly to Junior School life.

As a gesture of appreciation, Year 5 student Mitchell Murray presented Mr McGinty with a signed AFL football for him to take back to Ireland, a small reminder of his time at Trinity College and the impact he has had on our students.

Term 2 Co-Curricular Registration

We are pleased to offer our co-curricular clubs for Term 2.

As a reminder, from Monday to Thursday, an after-school club is available for any Junior School student needing to attend, with extended supervision provided from 3.15 pm to 5.00pm.

We kindly ask parents to indicate their son’s possible attendance on the form to assist us in providing adequate supervision. If you are unable to select a club on the form, this indicates that the club has reached capacity.

All clubs will commence in Term 2, with the exception of Camp Craft, which will begin in Week 1. A number of clubs are being re-run this term after not going ahead in Term 1 due to equipment or staffing constraints.

The teacher in charge of each club will be in touch during Week 1 to confirm your son’s participation and provide further details regarding the club.

We also extend our thanks to staff for their hard work in providing these opportunities for the boys.

Year 6 Mother’s Day Liturgy and Morning Tea

 Save the Date

Our Mother’s Day Liturgy and Morning Tea will be held on Thursday 7 May. Due to the capacity of the Chapel, this year’s Liturgy and morning tea will be celebrated with our Year 6 boys and their mothers or special guest.

The Liturgy will begin at 8.40am in the College Chapel. Year 6 students will attend with their guest; following the Liturgy, students and their invited guest will enjoy Morning Tea together in Gibney Hall.

We look forward to celebrating this special occasion with our Year 6 families.

e-Safety

Once again, I draw your attention to the resources available through The Australian Government Online safety | eSafety Commissioner which provides useful tips and resources to assist parents and children to have safer and more positive experiences online. By accessing the kids tab, you and your son will be able to find strategies for being safe, curious, kind and secure online.

To assist parents, all Junior School devices will remain at school during the holiday break. If you require further information regarding advice, cyberbullying or parental controls, please access the parent information section of the Australian Government website.

TC Family Night Under the Stars

Please see the 'Family Night Under the Stars' flyer below for all the details. This is a wonderful opportunity to bring along your family and friends for a relaxed evening picnic under the stars, while enjoying some incredible night sky viewing.

We are fortunate to have volunteers from Perth Observatory joining us with their telescopes, giving everyone the chance to explore some amazing celestial objects.
