Principal's Message

Easter

After a busy first term, I am sure that all students and staff are looking forward to the holiday break. As determined by the 2026 calendar, Good Friday tomorrow signals the start of our Easter period and also begins our holiday period. Easter is a most solemn and special time for all Christians as we reflect on the passion of Jesus Christ prior to celebrating his triumphant resurrection. On this evening of Holy Thursday, we specifically recall the Last Supper and the simple, yet powerful example of Christ ‘breaking bread’ and sharing a meal in communion with his followers. On Good Friday, many Catholics will walk the Stations of the Cross and reflect deeply on the suffering of Jesus. Easter Sunday then allows us to celebrate Jesus Christ rising again. His death and subsequent resurrection are central to our Faith and a reminder that we too can begin anew.

In concluding our term today, we gathered as a College to give thanks for our term, pray for a safe and relaxing holiday, and importantly, to commemorate Holy week leading into Easter. Our Easter Liturgy focus reminded us to reflect on the personal challenge of renewal that Easter brings. I pray that we can all experience the hope and renewal that comes with the celebration of Easter. Given the current circumstances that some around the world continue to suffer from, and yet others from within our own society experience, the Easter message could be particularly relevant. According to the Gospel of John, Jesus spoke the following words to his disciples on the night before He died. “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God still and trust in Me” (John 14:1). An enduring reminder at Easter, and an important message at all times, particularly as we continue to witness conflict overseas.

In his recent Lenten message, His Holiness, Pope Leo XIV reflected on Easter being the celebration of Christ’s resurrection, inviting the faithful to experience spiritual renewal and joy. The Pope highlights that the journey of Lent, marked by reflection, prayer and fasting culminates in Easter as a time to embrace the victory of life over death, to deepen faith, and to share love and mercy with others. In essence, Pope Leo XIV’s Easter 2026 message invites all to celebrate the resurrection with hearts renewed, to continue the Lenten practices of listening in a spirit of love, and to carry the joy of Christ’s triumph into the world.

I take this opportunity to thank the Staff and the students and their families for their wonderful efforts during first term. I trust that everyone has a relaxing term break and invite you to appreciate and enjoy a Happy and Holy Easter.

Live Jesus in our hearts.

Anzac Day 2026

This year, ANZAC Day (25 April) falls on a Saturday. This happens to be the end of Week 1, Term 2. In order to show due honour and respect to this important occasion, the PSA has brought all scheduled Secondary School Fixtures to Friday, 24 April.

In effect, all Trinity College Teams (Years 7-12) will play on Friday of Week 1, Term 2.

  • Boys in Middle School Teams (Years 7-9) will play from 12.30pm – 2.00pm.

  • Boys in Senior School Teams (Years 10-12) will play from 2.30pm – 4.00pm.

  • A formal ANZAC Day Ceremony is planned for 2.15pm at all venues.

The particular details regarding approximate departure/return times will be communicated to respective teams in the lead up to Friday, 24 April.

It is very important to emphasise that this is a scheduled school day and, as always, all students are expected to participate fully in all aspects of the day. Any student who may have a planned absence on this day will be required to have previously contacted the College and received formal approval. Similarly, any unplanned absence will need to be supported by a Medical Certificate. Students will not be permitted to ‘sign out’ throughout the day.
