On the 1 August, Kinross Wolaroi played Saint Gregory’s for the annual Indigenous round for Rugby.
The Indigenous Round with Saint Gregory’s has been on the rugby calendar for over 10 years. This tradition has grown to a celebration of Rugby, culture and identity involving not just First Nations students but the whole school community.
It was great watching the senior boys taking the led with this and with the help of Corey Mclean incorporating Wiradjuri Language into the dance.
Having the support of the Rugby community really made this special, especially with the 1st Boys coming down at lunch, showing interest, and getting involved in rehearsals.
A big shout out to everyone who was involved in the day and for those that supported the event.
Mr Lee Taylor and Mr Corey McLean, Indigenous Education Team
Kinross Wolaroi School was proudly represented by ten Senior School riders and two Junior School riders at the OAGS Interschools event from Friday, 24 July to Sunday, 26 July.

Congratulations to our outstanding equestrian team: Pippi Clinton, Sofia D, Clara W, Isla R, Matilda Whiteley, Charlotte Pearce, Frankie Mitchell, Lily G, Amy C, Ebony I, Mitchell Dickens, and Lucy W.
Once again, our students were fantastic ambassadors for the school. Over three days of intense competition, they demonstrated their incredible versatility across multiple disciplines, including combined training, dressage, showjumping, sporting, six bar, show riding, and active rider classes.
Thanks to their hard work, the team brought home an impressive haul of ribbons.

Over the first two weeks of term, our Year 8 cohort took part in the popular Row Your Boat PDHPE unit, gaining a hands-on introduction to the sport of rowing.

Throughout the unit, students learned how to safely and effectively use the rowing ergs, practised wet-exit procedures, and toured the rowing shed, where they explored the equipment, boat mechanics, and some of the unique quirks and challenges that make rowing a rewarding sport. The enthusiasm and engagement displayed by the students were outstanding, making the experience both enjoyable and highly successful for students and rowing staff alike.
A sincere thank you to Ms Reynolds and our PDHPE teachers, Miss Thornton, Miss Mulveney, Mrs Crellen and Miss Williams, whose assistance and participation played a significant role in the success of the program. Special recognition must also go to Mr Rist and Mr Dunnington, our Gap Year Rowing staff, whose energy, expertise and encouragement helped bring the unit to life.
Finally, congratulations to Miss Thornton, who set a new staff ergometer record during the unit, eclipsing the previous mark held by Mr S Byrne by an impressive 20 seconds. A remarkable achievement and one that may take some beating!
Well done to all Year 8 students for embracing the challenge with such positivity and enthusiasm. We look forward to seeing some future rowers emerge from the program.

Congratulations to Lucy Searle (Class of 2023), Alec Hoskin and Hannah Richardson (Class of 2022) on their outstanding performances at the World Rowing Under 23 Championships in Duisburg, Germany.
Lucy claimed gold in the Women’s Pair, Alec won silver in the Men’s Four, while Hannah and her crew finished second in the B Final after a strong regatta.
We couldn’t be prouder of these three athletes, who all began their rowing journeys on the waters of Spring Creek Reservoir as Kinross juniors. What makes these achievements extra special is that both Lucy Searle and Hannah Richardson came back to Spring Creek in the Summer Holidays and trained with our current cohort. Alec also attended our December training camp mixing and mingling with our Rowers offering advice and guidance (see attached photos)…8 months later they are dominating on the world stage.
Congratulations, Lucy, Alec and Hannah—we look forward to watching your rowing journeys continue to inspire the next generation of Kinross athletes.

KWS White Under 13s, our Year 7 and 8 girls team, returned from the holidays with a strong 6–0 win over CYMS at JB. Chloe scored an impressive five goals, while Lara added another. Chloe, Lara, Ellie, and Florence all provided assists, creating plenty of attacking opportunities. Congratulations to everyone on an amazing result and we look forward to the rest of the season.
KWS Blue U13 continued their strong start to the season with a 5-1 win over Ex-Services and in their second game beat CYMS 9-2. The goals are flowing and the defence is strengthening as the season continues.
Th U14 team faced a strong Blaney team and lost 6-2. The side continues to work on their short passing and making sure they retain possession for longer periods in the game.
The 2nds had a win in a game of two halves. The first half was frustrating as the team were not using the space afforded to them by the Molong Bin-Chickens with many passes going astray. The second half saw greater control of the ball resulting in numerous chances. Flynn Jones scored a brace and was unfortunate to miss his hat-trick.
The 1sts had a great 2-2 draw in their Friday night game. The support as excellent with a huge cohort of Year 10 turning up to watch. They were able to see Harry Chapman’s goal of the year as he slammed a shot into the top corner with his weaker (left) foot. After that wonder-goal, the Ex-Services team scored from a penalty and a cross that was miss-hit.
The 1sts created other chances but were unable to score a winner. They are sitting pretty in second place on the ladder, and with the finals in a few weeks it will be exciting.
