Creative Excellence on Display

The recent celebrations of Beauty and the Beast and the Year 12 Visual Arts Exhibition have showcased the extraordinary talent, creativity and dedication of our students and staff. My sincere thanks go to everyone who contributed to these outstanding events, including performers, musicians, artists, backstage crew, technical teams, teachers, support staff, volunteers and families. The success of Beauty and the Beast reflected months of commitment, teamwork and professionalism, while the Year 12 Art Show provided a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the imagination, skill and artistic growth of our HSC Visual Arts students. Special thanks also to the staff whose expertise, encouragement and countless hours of preparation made both events possible.

Together, these achievements highlight the vital role of the Creative Arts in the life of our School. Through music, drama and visual arts, students develop creativity, confidence, resilience and self-expression, while learning to collaborate, think critically and connect with others.

The Creative Arts enrich our community, inspire excellence and create experiences that leave a lasting impact long after the final curtain falls or the exhibition closes. Congratulations and thank you to everyone involved in these remarkable celebrations of student achievement.

Introducing New Short-Stay Boarding for Day Students

At Kinross Wolaroi School, we are always exploring ways to provide students with the support, structure and opportunities they need to thrive. It is therefore my pleasure to introduce Advantage Residency, a new short-stay boarding program designed specifically for current Kinross Wolaroi School day students in Years 8–12.

Building on our proud 140-year boarding tradition, Advantage residencies offer students the opportunity to live on campus for one or two school terms while continuing their existing academic program. It provides a flexible way for students and families to experience the benefits of boarding without making a long-term commitment.

The program has been developed in response to the evolving needs of families and the increasing demands placed on young people. For some students, the structured routines and academic support of boarding can help strengthen study habits, organisation and confidence. For others, living on campus provides easier access to sport, music, leadership opportunities and other co-curricular pursuits, reducing the time and travel commitments that can often accompany a busy school life.

Students participating in Advantage Residency become part of one of our boarding communities and enjoy the same high standard of care provided to our full-time boarders. They benefit from supervised evening study, academic mentoring, pastoral support, nutritious meals, wellbeing programs and the strong sense of belonging that comes from living and learning alongside their peers.

Importantly, Advantage Residency is about more than convenience. It is about creating the conditions for students to flourish. Through the boarding experience, students develop independence, resilience, personal responsibility and lasting friendships while becoming even more connected to the life of the School.

The program may be particularly valuable for students preparing for senior studies, those involved in intensive co-curricular programs such as rowing and representative sport, families managing significant travel commitments, or students who may be considering full-time boarding or future exchange opportunities.

Advantage Residency reflects our commitment to providing innovative pathways that support each student's growth and success. It combines the academic focus, pastoral care and vibrant community that define the Kinross Wolaroi School experience, while offering families an additional level of flexibility.

You can read more about the program on our website at www.kws.nsw.edu.au/boarding/advantage-residency, where you can also sign up for an information night, to be held on Monday, 17 August at 5:30pm in the Staff Common Room.

I encourage families who believe the program may benefit their child to learn more and consider the opportunities it presents. We look forward to welcoming the first Advantage Residency students into our boarding community and seeing them make the most of everything school life has to offer.

New Molong Bus Service Reminder

A reminder to our families that Kinross Wolaroi School has introduced a new dedicated bus service connecting Molong, North Orange and surrounding districts with the School.

Developed in response to feedback from families and the broader community, this new morning and afternoon service makes it easier for students to access the outstanding educational, co-curricular and pastoral opportunities available at Kinross Wolaroi.

This service is an important investment in supporting our families and expanding access to the School, particularly for those living in growing communities to the north and west of Orange. The new route complements our existing transport network and reflects our ongoing commitment to ensuring students can fully participate in all aspects of school life. Full route details, pick-up locations and timetables can be found on the Noticeboard page at the end of this Bulletin.
