Shrek Jr The Musical

What a spectacular event it was! Last Wednesday and Thursday evenings marked the culmination of months of dedicated effort within our school community. We are brimming with pride to declare that our rendition of 'Shrek Junior' was a hit!

When embarking on a production of this magnitude, certainty about the outcome is never guaranteed. The realm of the Arts encompasses a multitude of facets - fostering connections, igniting engagement, fostering collaboration, embracing teamwork, bolstering confidence, instilling pride, and infusing joy. Most importantly, it provides a unique opportunity to foster a sense of community, and 'Shrek' exemplified this beautifully.

Standing in the wings, awaiting the eagerly anticipated first entrance, I'm invariably consumed by a mix of excitement and trepidation. While you, our audience, witness the show's singular version unfolding before you, backstage we witness a different spectacle. The dressing rooms and wings resonate with electrifying, infectious excitement. The stars of the show, our children, are busy whispering words of encouragement, revving each other up, lending helping hands to ensure smooth transitions onto the stage, supporting one another throughout their performances, exchanging heartfelt congratulations, offering pats on the back as they step off stage, and generously bestowing compliments on one another for a job well done. It is inspiring and serves as a poignant reminder of the lengths we go to provide our children with these transformative opportunities.

Productions of this calibre don't simply materialize out of thin air. Our students, teachers, and our extraordinary team of production volunteers poured boundless energy and enthusiasm into crafting the magnificent performance you witnessed. At St. Columba's, we count ourselves fortunate to have an abundance of talented, creative, and skilled individuals within our community who generously devote their time to help us bring these shows to life. On behalf of all the children, I extend our heartfelt gratitude to these incredibly gifted individuals. Thank you for not only sharing your talents with us but also your unwavering love and passion for the Arts.

I cannot emphasize enough the immeasurable value of this experience. Collaborating with our community to breathe life into this production has been an absolute honour and privilege. We firmly believe that the Arts play a pivotal role in nurturing your child's holistic development at school, and they flourish brightly here at St. Columba's.
