BRILLIANT DAY OUT FOR OUR ATHLETICS TEAM

Our team of 78 athletes had a fantastic day out at Duncan McKinnon Reserve last Friday!  We had a gorgeous day of sunshine as well which helped boost everyone's spirits and energy levels!

Congratulations goes to each and every student for giving it their all in their respective events.  We had a number of students that kindly stepped up into another event on the day or day prior to help fill in for some late withdrawals.  Overall St. Finbars came 2nd place in the most points achieved by our Dendy schools over the day!  St. Joan of Arc were the overall winners.  Well done to everyone!

A HUGE THANK YOU goes to the AMAZING parents that helped officiate the Triple Jump event over the day.  A big shout out to Susan Rowe for supporting all parents over the day, along with Kate Jones, Melinda Felder, Yvonne Kealy, Natalie Gattuso, Daniela Stewart, Angela Feeney, Juliana Edgell, Marion O’Brien, Kate Blake and Simone De Niese.  From all accounts, the Triple Jump event ran very smoothly and some great team-efforts by all really helped make it such a success - so thank you one and all!

We’d like to congratulate these 23 students that either placed 1st or 2nd overall in their respective events.  They will now move onto the next level of competition; Beachside Division on Tuesday 10th October.  For our Year 5’s who will be at camp on this date, we are currently applying for an invitation to instead get them to Regional level.  Our fingers are crossed that their application is approved.  Another special mention goes to Edie S (Yr 4) who came first in all three of her events, and even broke the Dendy record in all three! Her finish in the 9/10G 4x100m relay to bring the team from 6th place to 1st was something we spectators will not forget for a very long time… so fast!

BLUEFIT SWIM SKILLS & SAFETY PROGRAM COMPLETED

A massive congratulations to everyone for their huge efforts over the past two weeks with the Swimming program, managing to dry bathers and towels and re-pack the swimming bag each day.  Thank you to those families that emailed class teachers to inform them their child was unwell and not able to attend on certain days.   As swimming is embedded into the Victorian curriculum, this 9-day program is a vital learning experience for our students in the development of their swimming and water safety awareness at primary school age.  Over the past two weeks, students have made progress with their swimming skills, water confidence, stroke development and knowledge in water safety skills.  It’s been great to chat with students in the yard at recess times and hear of the many water safety skills and water confidence skills that they’ve learnt over the past two weeks!

REQUEST:

RETURN OF ALL BORROWED SF SPORTS TOPS

Year 3-6’s: It’s vital that we are able to collect up all of our SF sports singlets, so our students can get the chance to wear them next year.  Please take the time to look through your child’s wardrobes, under their beds, behind their bedroom door for our blue, green and yellow jerseys, singlets and tops!  There are still some unaccounted for.

Please ask your child to hand them back into the office by tomorrow please.

Thank you!
