Primary School News

Book Week | Year 6 | Norman Jorgensen, Author visit

Head of Primary, Tracey Rogers

A highlight in the School Calendar is always our Book Week Assembly and this year did not disappoint. We were so grateful for the beautiful sunshine, fabulous costumes and that we were able to gather as a community in person for our Assembly. Only last year, we were still online for this event!

Whilst the Assembly and buddy reading are always a favourite, this year we have enjoyed author visits in Primary. I know the students, and staff thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to see and hear from published authors, inspiring many I am sure.

As always, there is a lot happening around Primary and with our Athletics Carnival today there is much to celebrate.

This week was also Education Assistant appreciation week – and our Team here at John Wollaston are a valued, dedicated and caring part of our Team! Our thanks to each and every one.

Creative Edge Thinking Competition

On Saturday 26 August the JWACS Creative Edge team competed in the metropolitan regional final in the Language and Communication category. The students represented themselves and the School with pride and provided an excellent response to the challenge. Our thanks to Mrs Katherine Stevens for her leadership of this team.

Mystery of the Mathematical Menace

Thank you to families for the wonderful response to the upcoming Maths Event on Monday 4 September. This event is a sell-out.  We look forward to seeing what Scitech presenters have in store for us! Please remember to be prompt in arriving at 4:00pm to get started.

Parent Coffee Morning – Tuesday 5 September

Parents and friends are welcome to attend our next Parent Coffee Morning. There was a limited response to the survey for discussion topics, so we can use Tuesday’s event to look at opportunities for the future. Thank you to those who have RSVP’d already. If you would like to come along, please let Mrs Sam Bryce in Primary Reception know, either via SEQTA or phone on 9495 8188. The coffee is always good!

Old-Style Tracksuits

Earlier this year, I wrote to families regarding the final phase out of the old-style tracksuits. If you have old-style tracksuits that you would like to ensure make it to recycling, not landfill, please deliver them to Primary or ELC Reception for collection. We will continue to collect old-style tracksuits until the commencement of Term 1, 2024.

Take care.
