ARMIDALE DIOCESAN ATHLETICS CARNIVAL

Last Friday St Nicholas Athletics squad attended the Armidale Diocesan Athletics Carnival. It was a very windy and chilly day but St Nicholas shone with 14 children gaining selection in the squad to go to the Polding Athletics Carnival at SOPAC on Friday 13 October: Max Collett, Lyla Davidson, Elijah Skilton, Winsome Urquhart, Bailey Maher, Henry Armstrong, Carter Brown, Amarnii Ramirez, Isabella Harding-Brown, Cohen Jones, Jessie George, Max Bensley, Azarlee Ramirez and Reese Moore. 

 

A massive thank you to the St Nicks PT&F who ran the barbecue on Friday. This was a big fundraiser for our school and I am extremely grateful to the parents and helpers who made it such a success.

ARMIDALE DIOCESAN GALA DAY

We are entering Netball and Soccer teams into the Armidale Diocesan Gala Day on Friday 15 September 2023. Please go to COMPASS events to provide consent and pay for the event.

Event Venues: Netball: Sports Dome Netball complex, Jack Smyth Drive, Tamworth

Equipment & Uniform: Students are to wear their full school sports uniform. (St Nicholas Netball Uniform if they have one). Students are advised to bring sunscreen and a hat to wear for the day. Please remember to bring adequate water for the day. 

 

Soccer: Gipps St playing fields, Tamworth

Equipment & Uniform: Students are to wear their full school sports uniform (Schools will provide playing jerseys.) Students are advised to bring sunscreen and a hat to wear for the day. Please remember to bring adequate water for the day. 

 

Coaching and Umpiring: If you are willing to coach / manage a team for the day or umpire games please let Mrs Tyrrell know via email: btyrrell@arm.catholic.edu.au

 

Guidelines: Netball will be in run in two divisions and can be mixed or straight teams, but everyone will be playing each other. (Only 10 students in a team – no modified rules):

  • Opens (Grades 5 & 6)
  • Juniors (Grades 3 & 4)

Soccer will be in run in two divisions and can be mixed or straight teams, but everyone will be playing each other.

  • Opens (Grades 5 & 6) - 9 a-side on the field, only 12 in a team
  • Juniors (Grades 3 & 4) – 9 a-side on the field, only 12 in a team, modified field
  • All competitors must arrive at the venue by 9:00am
  • Games start at 9:30am sharp 
  • Soccer must have shin guards.
  • The winning team of each division will win a trophy. Runner up will be awarded a medallion. 

Catering at the venue: There will be canteen facilities, CASH ONLY.

 

ST Nicholas Netball Club

Dear Netball Families, 

Another winter season is almost over. The Net, Set, Go! Teams (Years 4, 3, 2, 1 & K) had their last game last Saturday. A big thank you to the coaches, parents and players. We hope you enjoyed your season and will be back next year!

The best of luck to the following teams:

  • Year 5 Mini Swifts who take on the Swans Rubies in an elimination final.
  • Year 5/6 Stingers who take on the Swans Koalas in an elimination final. 
  • Year 6 Mischief Makers who take on the Swans Jewels in an elimination final. 

These games are played at 1pm on Saturday. 

 

The presentation afternoon will be held in Term 4 at school. Details to come.

AFL - After School Auskick.  

Over the last 5 weeks we have had 84 Students participate in the AFL Auskick program. We have loved seeing the students have fun and develop some great footy skills. 

If your child is keen to continue playing Auskick there is a Term 2/3 Program for 5-8 yr olds and The Tamworth Roosters are looking for players to join their under 10 and under 12s team - It is run on Friday afternoons at Number 1 Oval Kable Ave. Follow their facebook page " Tamworth Auskick " to keep an eye on Regos opening up in 2024.
