On Monday, our SRC had the opportunity to meet with Dan, the coach of the Under 12s, Mount Beauty Dederang Football and Netball Club. Dan kindly donated some footballs and netballs to our school to encourage students to become involved in playing sport or even joining a club. Please reach out our local clubs should you need help with equipment to get started. On behalf of all the students, the SRC would like to thank Dan and the Mount Beauty Football and Netball Club for their generous donation. (By Luella & Eli)
This week is Science Week and over the course of the week, students have been exploring the fascinating world of science, including using binary code to create a personalised name tag, engineering structures that hold the most teddies, learning all about whale poo and its importance, as well as testing their skills in designing, testing and modifying paper planes.
In a unique interaction, this week we all delighted in watching a magpie, trying to secure a skipping rope as part of its nest building strategy. This included playing a game of tug-of-war with one of our students as the skipping rope was trailed along the ground! Perserverance paid off and, after managing to secure an abandoned rope for its collection, the magpie was later observed wrestling a skipping rope from the oval to the nearby stand of trees where it was making it's nest.
Over the last week, students in Years 5/6 enjoyed another two days of skiing, bringing their ski program to a close. Many thanks to everyone involved in helping to provide this program. I would particularly like to thank Dave, Steph, Charlotte, Mary, Joy, Amanda and all our volunteers; Shelly, Joe, Monique, Jake, Luke, Lauren, Heath, Alex, Michelle, Tom, Brad, Juliette and Monica. Thank you so much for your time, team work and flexibility. Our students are extremely fortunate to have this opportunity and we couldn't offer it without your support!
Today, students in Years 3 and 4 participated in their final day of X-Country skiing. Many thanks again to Sheepy, Belinda, Steph, Mary, Kathryn, Kath, Alison, Bronwyn, Michelle, Duanne, Misa, Nathan and the instructors from Falls Creek XC for providing such a great learning opportunity for our students.
